I had my wisdom teeth out Monday. Starting Thursday I became more uncomfortable but last night and this morning I am just beyond miserable. If feels like someone is digging in my gums. My ears hurt, throat has been sore off and on, face was bruised...I noticed Friday and this morning my face feels swollen and jaw pain is awful. Mr. P just looked and said it looks like the blood clots are still intact over sockets. I just took a Motrin 800 and my last Vicodin. It's not really making me feel better at all. I sent a text to Dentist office per their instructions. I am so tired, I barely slept and I am suffering. I've been brushing carefully...no straws and doing salt water rinse. This is agony.

Could be dry sockets. I know that can be very painful and at this point you should be feeling better not worse. I hope they're able to make you more comfortable.

I had dry socket in two holes, and it sounds like that pain you have. Oxy and ibuprofen or whatever combo is was wouldn't touch the pain. Went to dentist, got clove strips in the holes. IMMEDIATE relief.
I remember not being prepared for the pain at all. I think they gave me vicodin to get me through 4 days and it was nowhere near enough. I didn't even have dry sockets! I never heard of the clove idea, wish I had known!
I need to get my tonsils out and have been dragging my feet for years. Wisdom teeth was horrible, I can't even imagine what the tonsil recovery would be like...
Hope your dentist gets back to you with some relief!

I had my tonsils out in March. It was awful but so worth it.
Op- That sounds awful. I hope they can help you today.
Thanks everyone! Things do not feel normal. But I just woke up and feel way better. I took my meds and finally passed out at 6:30am. No response back from the dentist's office. I will try clove oil if I can't get in touch with anyone. I only have a two Motrin left in my RX from them, but pharmacy has a Motrin RX left for me that I didn't take when I had my hysterectomy in March. I am just scared how I will feel when these pain meds wear off. We are going out of town tomorrow until Thursday, so I need to figure this out soon.
Hope you feel better soon. Stinks no call back from the dentist though.
They did call a while ago. They feel sure it is not dry socket. The dentist thinks it's because I had a root planing/scaling and then had my 4 wisdom teeth out 3 weeks later. That's quite a bit of trauma. I feel better as long as I have meds, so they are calling in more RX's. Since I will be out of town, I will go in Friday to be checked. I am still picking up Clove Oil and going to apply that too. Thanks to all of you for your input, shared misery stories and suggestions
I will add the vicodin did nothing for my pain when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. Turns out my body doesn't respond to it (other than by puking). So I was miserable for a week. It was awful.

Yeah it's really hot today and I feel pretty nauseous. Pain is better though. I found some anti nausea meds from an earlier surgery so gonna take one of those when I get home. Sorry you and everyone else here who had a rough time. This sucks.
How's the taste in your mouth and have you taken your temperature lately?
No fever today, nor bad taste. I asked H to see if my breath had an odor and he said no. I know dry socket can be a foul taste oe smell. I've been a bit better but all doped up today also.
Hope your feeling better soon. I got dry sockets after I had all four impacted wisdom teeth removed. (Women especially on the pill are high risk). It was the worst most blinding pain I couldn't eat or really even see because my jaw and head hurt so bad and I've had two natural births that weren't that bad (since then). I ended up having to go back to the oral surgeons office and have my dressings changed and repacked everyday for five days after and was on high dose pain meds round the click. Sending majorly good vibes your way.

OMG, this sounds awful, you poor thing. I actually feel like I've turned a corner today. Fingers crossed. You know I am old to have had mine out at 44 and I also realized I am taking estrogen since I am in surgical menopause, so that probably contributes to the complications. I've heard that about birth control too. I think Sunday night was a rough patch and I am feeling better, FINALLY.
