My mom is the opposite and always making sure everything is anchored and points out any possible danger in my home. That is also annoying. It's like we can't win!
OMG mine also constnatly compares M to when DH was a kid. WELL DH USED TO EAT WHATEVER WE GAVE HIM. He was never a picky baby. We put him down to sleep and he never woke up?
REALLY??? HE NEVER WOKE UP??? EVERR??? HE ATE EVERYTHING??? I call total bullshit on that. well, congrats and good for you. STOP FUCKING COMPARING THE TWO!
yes mine also says she never had any of "these sleep issues" or "these food issues" with her kids. Also, she didn't have tantrum issues, she was firm and they knew the rules. Or some such bullshit. Really??

Oh god, my MIL has such selective memory. Starting with "people make too big a deal out of labor, it doesn't hurt that much." Right. It's a fucking cakewalk. At least it was in your day! And yes, her children were 100% perfect and safe because she didn't do any of the weird stuff that I do, like using a carseat. Ok.

This is like my mom telling me I never had a single tantrum and I was potty trained by 18 months and speaking in full sentences at 12 months. Really? Shut up.

I mean technically Matilda would have been just fine laying in a box in the backseat all this time! That means car seat usage is silly. I mean what's the point? It protected her against nothing!!
Is it just an IL thing to argue with or question our parenting skills? My mom has never once questioned anything I do, even if it's something she doesn't necessarily agree with. She sees it as I'm the mom, I have the say and she needs to abide by it.
I wish. My Mom is a thousand times worse than my MIL.
I remember when I brought Jack home and I was going on a couple days of no sleep. My mom called and she was all "I am worried about you. You sound tired." Uh, duh. Then she proceeded to tell me that my sister and I never woke even ONCE in the night and she wondered what was wrong with Jack.
SHUT THE FUCK UP.
My mom is normal, but that was one of those "Oh really never once in a night" selective memory things I can laugh at now.
My ILs, who had three boys and who you would assume would be my boy parent allies, always tell us their boys were so calm and well behaved. They don't remember them ever being loud or wild.
My H laughed in their face when they said that. Like really dudes?

Did she get that twilight gas? Lol b
She didn't have any meds! I just think she doesn't remember anything from nearly 40 years ago. My parents aren't nearly as bad, but they do say that they don't remember it being a "thing" for new parents to be so tired when they were my age. Well, yes, when you feel totally comfortable sticking your kid in a crib to CIO while you go sleep in a room where you can't hear them, I guess you're probably getting more rest. Jerks!
Will I one day be telling Matilda that it's a bit strange her kids don't sleep or eat? "Oh when you were a wee bairn, you slept through the night from the day you were born and you demanded fresh vegetables every meal. You never watched tv, you spoke a sentence at nine months and you potty trained yourself at 14 months"
