We either stuck to Stride Rite (bought at SR, SR outlet, Zulily, Amazon, or Nordstrom Rack) or occasionally found styles from Target that were wide enough. Just got DS measured last week and for the first time ever, he's in normal width shoes! I'm so excited.

We have always stuck with stride-rite since they are the easiest thing to find in wide. I can usually get them for around $30 just by looking around at a few different websites.
Payless actually has some decent wide width shoes...and I believe they're made by the same company that makes Stride Right. I think they're called Smart Fit. I haven't bought a pair yet, but my friend swears by them. DS2 has fat feet, so I'll be checking them out soon!

Whoa! I'll check thx!
I'm looking now. The site is slow for me, but it looks like most of the shoes have Sesame Street stuff on them. :/
Both my kids have puffy (on top) and wide feet. I took each kid to Nordstroms to be fitted once they were ready for something more than crib shoes, and both times they ended up in Saucony baby rides in wide. So now my daughter (3) and son (1) basically wear the same shoes. My preference is to have them in a well-made sneaker on a daily basis at school. That way I know they have security etc. while running on the playground. They are usually on amazon for 25-35 bucks.
DD also gets a pair of pedipeds each season as well they fit her wide feet nicely and hold up well. She gets the Mary Jane's with the rubber soles in fall/winter and the closed toed rubber soled sandals in the spring/summer. Both of which I am comfortable with her running around in.
Having only 2 pairs of shoes to choose from cuts down on the morning negotiation time as well.
DS's arches aren't wide, so his feet fall out of wide width shoes. But he has a fat toe box and wide toes. SKR fit him great, I buy the brand exclusively now. He's 2.5 and I'm about to move him into size 10.
We've had to pretty much always shop at Stride Rite and get designated wide shoes.
This. As a toddler, DD #1 consistently needed wide width shoes and SR was the only place I could be sure of finding some. Even now (she's almost 11), she still needs a wide width in certain brands so while I will look elsewhere we often end up at SR anyway.
Dd has super wide, chunky feet. The Nikes work well for us, but recently, we bought a pair of Keens that fit well. Also, I hate crocs, but they fit her little chubs really well.
I'm still not over the fact that she doesn't fit in Saltwaters.
I like stride rite, saucony and new balance. Some shoes within those brands work better than others.
I find there is a good selection on zappos of wide shoes. Keens -- which do not have wide sizing are generally pretty wide and I find they sometimes work too.
Stride Rite and Saucony here too. Keens are okay depending on the shoe as well. Target also has some that work well on wide feet...you just have to dig a bit.

This gives me hope for DD. She just turned three and is still in wides. We typically get her shoes from Stride Rite. She does own a few pair of Crocs as well.

I have to disagree with New Balance. My son has wide feet and even the extra wide didn't velcro properly because it wasn't wide enough. I've had good luck with Tommy Hilfiger at Stride Rite, Converse from Target and the Jibbitz by Crocs from Target (they are $15 and you can buy the little button things to fancy them up if you want).
