Make sure both your ankle and hip are elevated and elevated enough. I started using an unused memory foam pillow we had along with another pillow and put it at a diagonal so it holds both my ankle and knee up. If you do just the knee it could actually make the pain worse since you are making the top leg bend over the top of the pillow.

((hugs)) I feel your pain, literally. I've been having this problem for at least the last 5-6 weeks and it sucks. I wake up every night with one of my hips hurting. My solution for now is to prop pillows up and sleep propped up on the bed.
Hope you find a better solution that works and you can get some good rest!
It sucks. I have just been switching sides every time I wake up in pain. Actually, also sometimes if I straighten out my bottom leg and just bend my top one, that seems to buy me some time. I am using the snoogle and this works best if I am hugging the long pillow section.
Is there a reason you're trying to sleep on your left?
I'm in the same boat. I keep waking up on my back but now I have propped myself up with more pillows. I'm 34 weeks and the hip pain just started last week for me. I'm using my snoogle but just rotating sides. I'm basically just really uncomfortable at night in general.
My doc said sleeping on your left or right is fine, just be comfortable so you can sleep. Don't stress being on the right*
*YMMV, ask your own doc!
Oh gosh I hope so. I knew back was bad, and stomach is out, obviously ( ). But if I am limited to one side I am going to revolt.
My Dr said back is fine. It won't hurt the baby, just can cut off blood flow to your legs. He said if I felt a tingle or ever had trouble breathing (from my lunges being pressed) then move. I'm 27 weeks and still sleep on my back. I usually have a pillow on one side and kind of angle by belly to the other side though. and I have 2 pillows propping me up so I'm not completely flat.
No advice. Just commiseration. Hip pain started for me over the weekend at 24 weeks. A pillow between the knees seems to be helping. I flip back and forth between sides, but it doesn't help much.
Commiseration here as well. I've been sleeping on the couch propped up recliner-style for the past two months and will probably be there until I deliver.
The only thing that helps is to avoid sleeping on my side and having hips square all night so I've actually gotten use to sleeping sitting up.
I had hip pain too at about 23 weeks when I was away from home for a week. As soon as I came back, I bought a Snoogle which has helped tremendously. I also found my memory foam mattress is a godsend so memory foam anything will hopefully help too. Hope you can find something that works for you soon!
I have the U-shaped preggo pillow and it is awesome for supporting my hips. I actually put the U at the bottom because I love my tempurpedic pillow. I flip between sides frequently and just choose whichever side seems comfy at the moment. Forget the left is best thing. It's not good for you to remain in the same position all night. Get comfy!
