I have the three grands this week (art camp and general spoiling) and today was field trip day. I also had a job interview this a.m. so in the rush to get them out the door (I let them sleep in for a bit) we grabbed backpacks and lunches but left their water bottles on the counter. Interview was close enough to one of the waterfront parks that I figured I'd drop it off to kiddo so she'd have her liquids (she did have extra juice and organic choc milk in her lunchbox but still, that's not nearly enough hydration at the beach).
I wasn't familiar with the park but figured it would be pretty easy access. I parked in the general parking lot. A mile away from the picnic area. Two miles round-trip. Through a winding, rocky, steep, wooded path through the forest. In pants and ballet flats. Definitely NOT made for hiking or beachcombing. (At least I left my heels in the car.)
