or daycare in the same clothes they went in? Boys particularly.
DS will be four in November and I feel like most days when I pick him up he is in his back-up clothes or even some other kid's clothes if he had two accidents. He is potty trained and we rarely have an incident at home, but this is an almost every day occurrence at school and I'm starting to get really frustrated.

Ask his teachers if they can have him go more often. It's really common for kids, even preKers, to have accidents because they don't want to stop playing and they misjudge how badly they need to go.

We've talked about it, it's usually because he's so engrossed in whatever it is they're doing. They have to ask to go to the bathroom. They have a bigger one down the hall and a single right off of the classroom.
I'm starting to think that maybe the teachers need to encourage more potty breaks or something because this seems excessive to me. I could be wrong though and might just need some perspective.

You think they'd get to that conclusion on their own. It's way easier to take a kid potty an extra time than it is to change some pee pee clothes. Definitely ask them.

This is exactly it and I think partially why I'm so frustrated.

Maybe twice when she was two, and maybe once when she was three.
Everyday seems like a lot! I would ask them to remind him to go, and maybe talk about it with him, even remind him at drop off.
Have you tried one if those potty watches? It beeps every 15/20/30/60 min to remind him to go. Maybe try that, even just weekends to get him in the habit. Or make a habit to go before/after he eats. (Assuming he eats snacks and lunches there).
DSs teacher is great about reminding each kid to try to go to the bathroom several times a day. She also will ask DS to go if she notices he's grabbing his junk and doing the peepee dance.

You lost me at other kids' clothes.
Yeah, they grabbed another kid's backup clothes because DS had an accident in his backup clothes. I was...kinda *-) when I picked him up.

I would not be ok with that. Our daycare keeps extra clothes for that reason (i am pretty sure they're lost and found stuff). I would be really pissed if someone else was wearing my kids clothes.
To answer your question, I had an extremely stubborn potty trainer. At 4 he still came home multiple times a week in his back up clothes. He will be 5 next month and it is rare now. I vote it's a transition issue and give it more time.
