I currently have an Uncommon Deflector case and it has been more than enough protection for a childless klutz who drops the phone on a sidewalk twice a day, so I'll probably get whatever the iPhone 6 equivalent is.
I've been happy with it! It shows some wear, but that's to be expected. It won't protect from water or really catastrophic falls, but my phone fell out of my pocket and straight down about 6 rows worth of height at a football game, onto concrete, and phone was no worse for the wear and case was almost unscathed.
The prices on the Uncommon website, btw, seem high. I bought it at the Apple store definitely for less than $39.99 -- maybe $24.99, not on sale?

I have one of these cases for my iPhone 5 and I love it so much. It fits my ID and my barclay card (mastercard) inside. I never carry a wallet when I go out, just a phone in my pocket.

v- I read some amazon reviews and it sounds like as long as you have 2 cc and 1 DL, it securely closes. I think when you have 3 cc (with raised text), it seems to close just enough but won't be flush with the phone
msmerymac- I've been looking for an all-in-one case too. I wish there was one that had a bit more protection B/c I drop my phone daily
@songforyou- I am thinking an Otterbox too. I wish Otterbox made an all-in-1 case! Is this from the Otterboc website?
v- I've never heard of Uncommon Deflector. It sounds like you drop your phone as much as I do. The quality good?
It is. They do make an all in one case. The one I posted is from the Defender line because I treat my phone so poorly. There is another case I like better, but it's from another line so I'm scared I'll miss the protection. You should look at their all in ones.
Say you have an ID and a credit card in there -- how much cash (like, how many folded bills) would fit?
Also, can it be easily found in stores? I'd want to see how bulky it is before buying. I've been burned by that before
I only ever use it with my ID and ONE credit card. It is too bulky with three. The back will close but it doesn't sit flush and it annoys me and my anal retentiveness.
I bought it at RadioShack when I bought my iPhone 5. I know radioshack is totally lame, but there is one right next to the Whole Foods in my city so it makes so I don't have to trek to the suburbs to the box stores (best buy, etc) when I need something. And like I said, the staff there has been so helpful in making the iPhone transition for me, that as long as their buyback price is reasonable when the 6 comes out, I will absolutely go there again.

Oh and I also I never carry cash, so it might not work for you v. I can fit one or two folded bills on top of the cards, but after that it is starting to get tight.
I don't think it's bad. I have a small clutch that I usually use as a purse and it fits in it with ease. That's my major requirement. This thing is indestructible!

I think I am set on getting either the Otterbox or Incipio Stowaway iphone 6 case. Otterbox isn't even available yet, and Incipio's expected ship date is in 2 weeks (9/26), so I likely won't get it until end of month.
I do have a tendency to be rough on my phone. Should I order a cheapie $14 case and use it until I get the new one (roughly $40-$50)?
I know this is the MM board, but still wondering....

I've always gotten a cheap one right away if I can't find one I like.

This is what I am thinking. The one I want won't be here for 3 weeks, and I think I need something to tide me over. I am a klutz about dropping my phone.

sidewalk? pshh. my goal was to find something that *MIGHT* somewhat survive another 11-story elevator drop. Thus, I have a construction worker's phone case (otterbox defender).
the rubber outer part of my otterbox defender is actually ripped... after <6 months of use.
I believe they're almost entirely indestructible; I am just the worst.
Oh, wow! In that case, do you know if they have a lifetime guarantee?
I hadn't thought to check previously, but it looks like they have a one year warranty. the case still works and I think we are upgrading anyways, so it's probably not worth it, particularly because it sounds like they might try to just repair this case.
Doesn't the iPhone 6 have the iPay (iWallet? I can't remember what it's called), or something like that, which effectively lets you use your phone as a credit card? Carrying around a credit care may become obsolete! Probably not thrue of drivers licenses though.

Apple Pay
I love my Lifeproof case on my 4S. It is so slim and is waterproof as well as drop proof. My SIL actually had her phone go through an entire dishwasher cycle thanks to my nephew and it came out completely unscathed! I also love being able to take it into the pool and take pictures of my kids without worrying about dropping it or missing out on some fun pics. I've had mine for nearly 2 years now and it is still going incredibly strong, despite 3 young children, numerous drops, and fun in water.
ETA: it isn't cheap, or at least it isn't cheap as far as I'm concerned. But I figure the $80 is well worth protecting the $600+ miniature computer I tote around with me everywhere and plan on it making it through at least 2 years.

Only 2% of merchants in the US have the technology to accept Apple Pay, so I think we're a loooooooong way away from not carrying credit cards...

Yes I had read that too. The places that will have it ready are major nationwide retail chains, but chains I don't frequent. But I do hope more and more retailers will go on board! Apple pay isn't going to debut until Oct, right?

I know I posted about Applepay in the other thread (someone was looking for a clutch) and everyone came out with their facts and data to burst my bubble, too.
