I am starting cycle 9 and haven't temped at all. I have been using the digital CB OPKs and have consistently had positive readings around days 18-20 along with other secondary symptoms (pain, CM, etc).
I am wondering if temping will have an additional benefit and if I should start? I am thinking it will only help with timing?

Temping really only confirms o so it doesn't really help with timing other than to know when to stop. It's not bad info to have but I realize it's not for everyone. I liked having it for my gyn and endocrinologist
I would because it confirms ovulation. It doesn't help at all to predict when you're ovulating. Because it's possible to get a + OPK and not actually ovulate seeing the temp rise and crosshairs would probably be good info for you and your doctor.
At first I wasn't going to temp and just use my CBEFM. I ended up starting to temp the 3rd month and I think it helps to see the crosshairs and know positively that I O'd.

I did it for a few months and it was helpful as far as confirming that I did ovulate, and that my ovulation lined up with OPKS. Once I knew that I didn't keep up with it though, it was just kind of a hassle to me, plus the whole temping all the way to CD1 and seeing the drops just sucked. I'm glad I stopped because it was too obsessive.
What helps is starting the temping about the same time as you start the opks, about day 12ish (or whatever you usually do), temp only long enough to confirm O (typically about 3 dpo you'll get crosshairs) then stop. That's what I've done and I've been a little less crazy for it. Like a PP said, it is possible to have positive opks and not O (I'm proof of that).

I have not temped yet because I am already stressed and feel like I am thinking about this all too much, so I think if I start temping I will get even more obsessed, you know?
My doctors have all encouraged me not to for that very reason. I meet with the RE next month and if she tells me something different then I think I will do just what Starbust said--go for a few cycles to see if it matches up with what my body and the OPKS are telling me.
I did it the first time we TTC. Happily not doing it this time. I'm comfortable that a constant positive reading the same time of the month, every month, and same time of month every month getting AF means I'm Oing.
