I wash once a week for the most part. Every now and then, I will do twice a week, however, I do wet my hair everyday.
I follow the LOC method: Leave-in, Oil, Cream and then whatever twisting product you're going to use.
I like Keracare's Natural Texture cleansing cream. I haven't found a conditioner, I'm not super in love with it, but have been using Aunt Jackie's.
For a leave-in or daily spray, I alternate between Keracare's Leave-In (great slip), and Talijah Waajid's Protective Mist (I like the medicated one, because I can have dry scalp issues).
For oils, it depends, but I like Jamaican Black Castor Oil, plain old hot sis oil and sometimes almond oil.
Creams, I like Oyin Handmade products, specifically, the brown sugar pomade. I really like their Juice and Berries, but realized I'm allergic to them.
Gels, I like Kinky Curly's Curling Custard. I've also been using plain aloe vera gel. Fresh is best, but bottled works too.
I've used plain glycerin too, to help retain moisture.
I have a TWA, and use a NuDred Sponge to twist my hair. Check out curlynikki for ideas.
I currently wash with suave Shea butter shampoo then put suave Shea butter conditioner on and do not rinse. I pat dry, finger detangle, spritz with olive oil, and braid or twist small sections using cantu Shea moisture curl cream. I let it air dry over night. I then re twist nightly using argan oil leave in conditioner.
This is a new routine because I had surgery on my scalp and had to switch up some things. I'm actually liking the new routine.
I keep hearing a out this cantu shae butter i need to look for it.
My current situation...just washed my hair i added honey and olive oil to my deep conditioner...honey is meant to be a humectant let's see how it works
You can buy it at walgreen's and Walmart. I can't remember if ie seen it at Target.
I once used honey in a deep conditioner before flat ironing my hair. I didn't rinse well but didn't notice until I started gettig my hair straightened. The whole house smelled like burnt hair and honey for hours, plus my hair was sticky in certain areas. All bad news, lol. decided to take honey out of my flat iron routine even though I love how it makes my hair feel.
I use Trader Joes Tea Tree Conditioner to scrub. Then, I detangle with herbal essence hello moisture conditioner (or something along those lines of a name, it's a blue bottle).
I get out and put in DiGiovanni's leave in conditioner. Followed by olive oil. I then twist with coconut oil.
I twist and put it in some kind of updo/bun for 2-3 days, then I untwist and wear my hair out for 2-3 days, then it's wash day again.
My routine has gotten pretty lazy. I should probably go back to deep conditioning every once in awhile. I used to do conditioner, honey and olive oil (or any kind of oil for my deep conditioner) But my hair seems to be doing ok, so why fix it if it's not broken!
I recently chopped my fro into a tapered cut. Loving it.
Here's my usual routine -
1. Shampoo 1x a week with Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo 2. Condition with Cantu Shea Butter Leave In (This stuff is the TRUTH). Sometimes I condition with the Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner (This works really well on my 3yr old)
If I'm feeling lazy, I won't twist it, but usually, I sport a twist out.
Twist-Out (Wet) After the shampoo & condition steps, I use Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie, ORS Lock and Twist Gel and Shea Butter to seal.
Twist Out (Dry) 1. Spritz hair with water, shea butter/jojoba/evoo mix. (I found some small bottles of Jojoba and Shea Butter oil at the beauty supply store. I add a few drops to my spritz bottle and call it a day.) 2. Twist hair with Shea Butter Curl Souffle.
I have to use a hair dryer on my hair after I twist it. It takes FOREVER for my hair to air dry. I'm talking like 18 hours at least if I don't help it along. I can never twist it at night and it's dry the next morning.
For fro days, I finally bought a diffuser. Loving it. Not as much heat and it allows me to get some air drying time in.
I do live in a humid area, but my hair sucks in moisture like no tomorrow. I use the Aveda Anti-Humectant for that. I didn't get a lot of use out of it this summer because I chopped in June.
Wash day is every 2 weeks. More often and I'm a dried out frizzy mess. I don't know my "hair type" as in the letter and number but my hair is very fine, not very course, and extremely susceptible to frizz in any type of humid environment (low porosity, high porosity, I don't know). I've been using Shea Moisture shea butter shampoo, old school Queen Helene cholesterol conditioner, and for styling I first apply Garnier leave in follwed by Jamaican black castor oil. Finger combing and primarily 2-strand twist outs for daily styling. I arrived at this routine after years and years of product junkieism. This minimalist approach has been working well for me.

In my area it's available everywhere: Target, Walmart, CVS, and the beauty supply stores. It's also inexpensive and you get a lot of product. I used their products for a whilr and I really liked them.
So, I do not fall into this category BUT I have recently started doing this after washing my hair (naturally wavy prone to be frizzy). After getting out of the shower, I put in the Moroccan oil and then I rewrap my hair in my special towel and leave it on till I am ready to style. SO I get dressed, put on makeup in the meantime. My hair is drying really fast, but is left very soft and silky. I think the towel lets it set for a while.
socratic - I do have super thick hair, so using shea butter to seal is helpful for me. What it entails for me is after I put on my Curl Enhancing Smoothie and ORS Lock and Twist Gel, I use a little shea butter to lock in the moisture. The result is that it keeps my hair from feeling dry and brittle after it dries.
Typically, I only add the shea butter as a seal after I wash my hair. If I'm doing a twist out on dry hair, I use the Curl Souffle because it's a heavier gel type product.
I've tried using Eco Styler and I find it leaves my hair pretty crunchy. Because you have fine hair, you may need to use a lighter product than Shea Butter - maybe coconut oil instead.

Yes. I don't buy many new products now. What I do currently seems to work best. Whenever I use new products, I get weird results.

You put the moroccan oil on wet hair and blow-dry after it sets?
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
1: Pre-poo hot oil treatment: EVOO, coconut oil and jojoba oil 2: Wash with ORS olive oil shampoo 3: Condition and detangle with either herbal essence hello hydration or tresemme moisture rich. 4: detangle with cantu shea butter and seal my ends with either EVOO or coconut oil.
After all this, I'll either let it air dry 80% then blow it straight, or do bantu knots or twists for a twist out.

Yes. I mean the hair is damp, not dripping wet and still damp when I get ready to blow dry.
So today i tried something different... after shampooing i added a bit ot honey and olive oil to my conditioner and left it on while i did my chores. Rinsed applied argan oil leave in conditioner. Dried with tshirt and applied elasta moisturizer. Twisted and put olive oil on the ends.
Way less greasy today!
I likely will keep my hair up in twists all week so didn't bother to add gel to the twists or blow dry it at all.
Because of the lack of stretching, blow drying or weightier products my twists are about ear length. Kinda cute and curly...But it makes me look so young!

Today was wash day!
I wash with either Kinky Curly Knot Today or Shea Moisture's co-wash. Condition with Kinky Curly's leave in & then use their curl creme & drip dry. My hair looks especially fly today.
The first couple days after my wash I use Curls Unleashed 2nd Day refresher. After that I use KC or Shea Moisture's leave in conditioner (depending on what's on hand) and pull my hair in a bun because I have to be at work stupid early and it's faster.
I don't really style it, though. Headbands and I are besties.
