And this just happened.
The crib is now a toddler bed, and I moved Layla's bed into the other side of the room. We haven't put the rail up yet.
I have no idea what's going to go down. The plan is to take them to bed at 8:15 and tuck Layla in and nurse/rock Mariam in the glider like I normally do until she gets drowsy and then place her in the crib. If she wakes up--which I'm betting on...um..help. I really don't want to bring her into my bed like I've been doing when she cries and it's in the middle of the night.
Can you share a pic of that whole room? I love your wall detail and carpet!
And on topic, it has to go better than what you have pictured in your head.
Thank you! The wall is definitely my favorite part of the room. The carpet which covers the upstairs bedrooms is a little too grandma-ish for my taste but it was new when we bought the house and DH was not willing to change it.
I haven't photographed the room with the toddler bed but here's the pictures I do have on my phone.
I moved Layla's bed in between the closet doors and it is blocking off a little the one on the left, but it's just storage space. Figured the bed is light enough to move if I ever do need something in thete. The room is small and I don't want to put her by the window so it looked best there.
I hope you have a very high tolerance for "what the fuck is that??" In the morning.
My boys have recently started taking their toddler crib mattresses off the beds and making slides out of them.
Lol! I wouldn't put it past them. They can be mini versions of Dennis the menace. The glass has been taken out off the print on the table, and I remove the faux floral bouquet when they start playing with it. Layla knows better than to try to reach the pictures on the dresser and Mariam hasn't tried climbing. No pencils, crayons, or anything they can write with stays in that room. One of the ways they can get me is probably pulling the curtains off but they haven't attempted yet.

Absolutely STUNNING room - I just love it! It's inspiring me to finally make an attempt to sort out my kid's room which is a disaster area.
Good luck tonight - we transitioned to a toddler bed recently and it's gone very well. However I cannot imagine two in the same room so I hope it goes well!
Wow, that room is stunning! The stained glass is beautiful... I love the carpet (reminds me of an English B&B)... even the ceiling texture. It's a perfect little girls room.
Can I ask where you got that white round side table? I'm looking for that exact type of table for my little girl's room.
Well first night is down. It went better than expected. Layla my 3 yr old climbed into her bed no questions asked. Then I nursed Mariam and rocked her till she was asleep, but she got up as soon as I put her in the bed. I laid next to her till she fell asleep and then rolled off the crib mattress and literally crawled out of the room trying not to make a sound. The floors under the carpet can be pretty noisy.
So I was in bed by 9:30. Not bad, but then I proceeded to toss and turn the next few hours because I was anxious I guess about the transition. Mariam woke up at 3:45 crying and woke up Layla so I went back in the room, told Layla to go back to sleep and laid with Mariam again till about 4:15 and snuck out again. I'm thinking tonight just nurse and no rocking since she wakes up as soon as I put her in bed anyways. I don't plan on continuing to lay next to her for very long so we'll see how that goes.
