Can I get feedback on Lorac Pro vs Lorac Pro 2 vs Lorac Unzipped?
This would be a gift for someone who likes "a variety of colors" and "a mix of matte and shimmer."
Lorac Pro 2 has more color. Pro 1 looks like mostly neutrals with an eggplantish color, a slate gray, and a mauve. Pro 2 has a green, navy, and purple. Lorac Unzipped is all neutral and I think all but two are shimmer. Pro 1 and 2 are half shimmer, half matte.
In today's mail, I got a lovely red envelope from Sephora.
It contained:
An invitation to a VIB Rouge Holiday Soiree on Wednesday November 5, the code GIFTROUGE for 20% off between November 5-10, and a 20% one time use coupon for a friend.
If I am able to go to the event on the 5th, I may take a friend, in which case, I'll give the coupon to her. Otherwise, I'm happy to PM the code to someone.
Judging by the wording, the VIBs will also get a 20% off code and coupon for a friend, so there will likely be plenty of codes to go around for everyone here.
::knocks chair over in a rush to go get the mail::
Ok, I'll start with my empties (no photos). My specs: oily.combo skin & acne prone - dark curly hair, blue eyes, pale skin
Stila lipstain
I've gone through more tubes than I can count, yet I keep buying more. A tube lasts me maybe 3 months and that's using it 1 - 2X a day. I love the cherry and pomegrante colors. Why I like it? Staying power is pretty decent. If I re-apply it's because I ate lunch and just want that extra flush on my lips after even if there is some color left. I also love it because I love a lot of moisture on my lips, so I apply my favorite chapstick like product over and the color won't fade as a result. The formula can be drying without the chapstick, but that is what I like (using the chapstick I mean).
Yes to Carrots Lip Butter
This is my go to "chapstick" like product. I've been through too many tubes to count. It's hard to find now, but I get it at beauty.com/drugstore.com or I will see it at Walgreens from time to time.
Neutrogena revitalizing lip balm
I still layer with YTC but the colors are very pretty and very moisturizing. The petal color is my fav for a soft pink flush
Clinique BB cream
I got through a bottle of this stuff close to a year ago, but I just re-purchased to try again now that it's getting cold. I love this stuff, and I'm not generally a fan of BB creams. It can be worn alone with some setting powder, or for a more made up look I still use my Jane Iredale powder foundation on top. It gives a slight glow, but even with oily skin I don't find that I am an oil slick at all. It's pricey ($35ish) but I do enjoy this. It also doesn't break me out at all
Tarte BB cream primer
I used to love this stuff but realized at some point the coloring is just off for me, and really doesn't have enough of a shade range. I got through a bottle over the summer and will not repurchase. I really need to shear it out and at that point, I'd rather use normal primer
Smashbox anti blemish primer
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. That's about it. LOVE. I went through a travel sized and it's just great. I can get through a solid 9 hours then I need to reapply some powder. LOVE. NOTE: If you want the full 1oz size you're better off getting two travels for the $15 price tag each = $30. The normal size (1oz) is $42ish and you'll save $12 buying two travels versus the full bottle for the same amount of product.
Jane Iredale Pressed Powder Foundation
Best, holy grail foundation ever (for me anyway). Most liquid foundations break me out and this gives great coverage that is buildable. I used to be a fan of BM but this is so much better, not as flat (as the matte formula) and enough of a glow (without the bismuth from the original formula). It can be pricey $35ish range, but I get it on amazon now that I know my shade. The shade matcher on the JI website is pretty top notch and I found my shade without any help. Nordstrom does sell some of the shades, but not all.
Jane Iredale, Awake Blush
LOVE - perfect hint of pink giving you that true "awake look." Only complaint is the size of product you get. I bought it on a whim and would re-purchase, but I have a ton of blushes to use that I love just as much.
Bobbi Brown Antigua bronzer/blush
I discovered this a few years ago when I went to Nordstrom's BB counter. I went in looking for corrector and also purchased this one. It gives a great rosy glow to the cheeks without looking like too much of a pink blush. It's great for my coloring. I didn't quite get an emptie on this one (rather I dropped it a few times and it finally broke too much for me to use). But I hit pan on it after 3 years. Impressive. It's in the $30 range but worth every penny.
Amazing Concealer
It's truly amazing and I will be repurchasing. A small tube lasts me forever, and just make sure to set with powder. I'm currently using up the NYX HD concealer that I like just as much.
Maybelline Illuminating shade, Age Rewind
I've been through too many of these to count, it's worth it! I like it in conjunction with other concealers around my eyes
Clinique High Impact Mascara & Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes
Love both of these and would re-purchase
Clinique quickliners, intense formulas
Love, love, love. I've been through at least 3 of the dark brown intense shade. I'd saw one lasts me a good 10 months at a time with constant use.
Clinique Stay Matte Powder
I like the translucent shade to set makeup and it works! My only complaint is I carry one in my purse & I've shattered more than one. But I like the formula
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I rarely wear shadow but this stuff works so well. I'd re-purchase again, and prefer it to the UD eyelid primer.
Tarte Smoulder Eyes (eyeliner)
I finally used up a holiday set from 2 - 3 years ago? While I like the formula and it doesn't budge I did find that it dried up too much over time (in comparison to the clinique quickliners which doesn't dry). I likely would not re-purchase as a result
Better Than Sex mascara (Too Faced)
I used up a small tube from lash stash. And while I loved the formula from the beginning, I didn't like it once the formula dried up after a few uses. It's a shame...I ended up loving the Tarte much better.
SKINCARE
Paulas Choice acne cleanser, skin balancing moisture gel are my go tos. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I use both ICW Aczone (a prescription acne cream).
I've also been through multiple bottles of PC acne toner, but I rarely use it anymore now that I am on aczone. But I rec just about anything from the PC acne line and skin balancing products. I also really love the PC 2% BHA gel (used up lots of samples and just bought my first bottle)
HAIR
DEVA all the way - no poo, light gel, mousse, and set it free spray. I also have been through so many bottle of TJ's Tea Tree Conditioner. It's my HG curly stash and I don't plan on switching it up
I've just started using DEVA on my hair too. I love it!
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
I am not Rouge, so I will stalk the mailbox to see if VIBs get the code or just Rouge. At least if the sale is on the fifth for Rouges then the VIB sale can't be far behind.
I am too damn tired to go to down the street to the mailbox tonight to check for my card, but I will be there first thing tomorrow morning. My Sephora cart is up to almost $300, and I haven't added all of the gift stuff yet.

I think it's the 6th-10th for VIB. Rouge people only get 20% off on the 5th if they go to the event. That appears to be the deal from what I got in the mail.
Also for the Ole Henriksen fans, the 20% off sale is still going on. I ordered a nice set of stuff this weekend.
I still have not decided what I will be buying during the sale. I change my mind daily.
I got nars Cassiopeia in the mail today. I think we are going to be good friends.
I also got lorac pro2 which seems nice and the bite mini pencil in aubergine. It seems like a great fall color - just the right depth for my pale skin.
If you get a 20% off code and don't know what to do with it and you don't have Vice 3, get that. I'm so incrediably happy with it. It's a fun neutral and color palette. I've played with it for 2 weeks straight. It just gets better and better. I think everyone has it it at this point so I don't know why I'm saying this.

I think I may be one of the few holdouts. Lord knows I've bought everything else sold in sephora and ulta at this point... It looks fairly warm though when I see it online. Thoughts on this?
I just sent a long ass email to Ulta telling them that their website totally sucks, their coupon sucks, and I'm giving all my money to Sephora. I doubt it will make a difference but I feel a teensy bit better. It was one of the first times I was even able to successfully access the customer service page.
I think this has been mentioned before but if you have Verizon you can get discounted Sephora gift cards through their reward program. I just bought $100 worth for $90. It's a nice little bonus in preparation for the upcoming sale.

My stab at this week's challenge. This was the hardest one for me yet. I don't really do the "no makeup" makeup look. It's ok. My hair appt is Sat. Thank goodness.

I just ordered some stuff from Ole, thanks for the reminder ESF
I still have my 20% to use at Ulta, which expires Saturday. Then I'll be waiting for my VIB code for Sephora. I'll have to figure out how I'm going to spread the love.
I need to start working on my Christmas list, and could use some recs or guidance for the makeup portion.
*General, all-purpose palette. I tend to gravitate towards cooler colors, but I have Boudoir Eyes and Away Oui Go. I think I'd most benefit from something fairly all encompassing so that I can really learn how to play and how to make things go together.
* Brushes. I should probably upgrade from my 5-10 year old set :-) I don't fully understand how to use all the different brushes though.
* Skin care. So, um, I do nothing to my skin. Like, I don't even take my makeup off at night half the time. Bad Hamster, I know. I could use a non oily makeup remover (mine now is awful), and who knows what else. My skin tends to get pretty dry, but when I moisturize it tends to break out. I probably need some super gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
*Hair care. It gets pretty oily by the second day, but the bottom is super dry and frizzy these days. My hair is also colored.
I'd say that's all, but if you think of something I could use as a beginner shout it out!
hamster, I love the Tarte Rainforest palette and use at least one color in it every day. It's a really nice collection of soft neutrals and the blush is a great soft color.
Brushes are a super personal thing and opinions are more divided on them than mascara. The three I recommend the most are the Sephora Classic Multitasker, MAC 224, and MAC 187. The Real techniques brushes are also a good place to start for face brushes too.
For my makeup free face/au naturel look taken in bad bathroom lighting because it's dark in the morning!
Face: Tarte 12 hr BB Primer, Dermablend Concealer, Tarte pressed powder Cheeks: Lollitint (this is such a unique cheek color even though it is scary lavender out of the bottle) Lips: Lollibalm (I love these as much as the cheek tints...super hydrating with a little bit of a tint) Eyes: Too Faced Matte Fresh Linen all over, Vintage Violet lightly in the crease. Mally purple eyeliner. Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara. Anastasia duo brow soft brown lightest color
ETA: That is really AWFUL lighting. My shirt is a bold royal purple IRL.

If I'm remembering your face correctly, I think you could pull off warm colors. The Vice 3 is mostly warm but has cool shades too (forreals). And has a mix is finishes. Too faced Chocolate Bar is all warm with a mix of finishes and I think a great all around palette. Naked 2 is cooler; Naked 3 is warmer. The smashbox HeatWave palette ESF and I found at a makeup outlet store is truly 50/50 in terms of warm/cool.
You should definitely wash off makeup at night. More than anything, more than any product, washing my face each night has made the biggest difference to my skin.
No picture but I used the naked basics palette today. I used Crave as my eyeliner and I LOVE it. I think my new favorite mascara is the Tarte gifted. I might have to buy a bigger one soon or ask for it for Christmas.
I got a sample of this months ago, finally used it today, and have no clue what it was supposed to do. I put it on and it was... there.
I had a sample size of it too. I don't understand it either. There's zero coverage. You need a lot of product to cover your face. I didn't hate it, because I found it did give my skin a decent glow, but there are better products out there that do that plus give a bit of coverage.
That said, I used it in Hawaii because beachy glow plus there's sunscreen. And it smells nice.
@gracechen, my eyes are slightly different shapes so my eyeliner never perfectly matches. I avoid winged liner and cat eyes because that seems to exaggerate the difference between the two.
Not completely au natural but much softer than usual. My Nars Lhasa arrived yesterday and I couldn't resist wearing it today.

Yes! I used it as today's sunscreen.
I think I was expecting more because my UD BB cream, while not fabulous, provides some coverage and smoothes out my complexion a bit.
It's rather sad that my only successful sample so far on this entire journey belonged to KateAggie (the Bare Escentuals 5 in 1).
This was yesterday's look for the challenge. I put on more make up today because I've been playing with the naturally Pretty palette and I got carried away.
I haven't gotten the Vice 3 yet. I have so much eye shadow right now, so I've been holding off.
I'm probably only going to restock staples and hair care with the sale.
