We have a blank wall around our tv and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. I've been considering doing a gallery wall all around with some floating shelves and bookcase on the right. I made a mock up. Does it look too "busy?" My main concern is that it's going to be very distracting to watch tv with so many prints and pictures around. If you don't like the mock up, what do you think would be best to do? I hate how blank this wall is.
I think an arrangement with fewer pieces but of more varied sizes would fill the wall space, but feel a little less cluttered. Everything here is roughly the same size, except for the TV.
I also think you're going too high/too close to the ceiling.
But the gallery idea is ok? Just with more varied sizes? This was my 5-minute mock up, so it's not even kind of set in stone.
pagas, I like the chair idea, that's not a bad suggestion.
I would add a chair to the right of the tv to anchor the wall a bit more. There is a lot going on in your mock up, I would edit it down.
I like this idea a lot. The gallery wall just seems too busy. The much discussed YHL did a gallery wall around their tv and it looked busy but you can google and see if you like it.
Also is there room between the couch and wall for a tall bookcase on the other side? If there is do a mock up of that because I think you need something tall on the wall too but a bookcase might be too busy too.

I think there could be room for a bookcase. The space is there, I'm just not sure how I feel about it exactly. But if I did a chair on the right and some pictures above the chair, that would really cut down on it being distracting I think. Then the bookcase might not feel like too much.

The problem is that your media cabinet is way too small. I would get a much longer media console and flank the tv with lamps, books, plants, etc. Decorative objects that have a bit of height. Then you could also put a few pictures on the wall. I just think nothing is going to look right with that media cabinet because the scale is off.

Lurker sometimes poster here! I love gallery walls, but maybe something with larger pieces instead of so many smalls. And this link has the added chair, too:

I agree. You need something more substantial furniture wise for that wall, if you want it to look finished.

Is that a Hemnes tv stand? I'd get two Hemnes bookcases in the same finish, plop them down on either side, and call it a day.
lol, yep! That's been considered and may be something I go with. I've been trying to break up the furniture pieces without it looking bad. I feel like it looks really boring to have the exact same style on one wall.
I like the gallery wall idea and the extra chair. But I think the tv is too high. It should be at eye level for optimum viewing. These are two gallery walls I think look pretty good, tho.

The tv is not moving. It took DH forever to hang it and it's at a good height for viewing. I can put stuff on top of the media cabinet for visual interest if need be.
