DS is consistently peeing through his pull-ups at night now that he needs a 4T/5T size (he's 40 lbs, 3.5yo). They don't make Huggies overnight Pull-Ups in that size. Regular pull-ups and Target brand he pees straight through. The Goodnights are for 38-65 pounds and we tried those but they're too big and we had the same problem. The Target brand overnight pull-ups are for the same weight range so I don't think they'd work. I seriously spent over 10 minutes in the diaper aisle at Target today trying to find an alternative and came home with nothing.
The best option seems to be overnight Huggies diapers... but is it ok to go back to diapers, or will I regret that once he starts waking up in the night when he has to go? I also don't know if he'll be opposed since they would be diapers, not pull-ups.
We've started limiting liquids after dinner, but it's only an hour or so after dinner before it's bedtime. He potties before bed. Should we wake him when we go to bed a few hours later? I don't know what I should try next.
We have cloth diapers too that we could unearth, but I am doubtful that would be better, considering we stopped using them overnight because of leaking before.
I think he's not ready for night training, but maybe I'm wrong? Thanks for any suggestions and making it through my pee-sogged post lol.
Prior to that, we had been using Huggies Overnights, but they were leaking and these covered more of his bum and worked better. We never did pull-ups at night, and he had no trouble understanding the difference between pull-ups and diapers and realizing that if he was going to pee at night, he'd need the diapers. We also tried Goodnights, and they didn't hold enough liquid. In addition, we tried diaper pads in his diapers but they didn't hold enough and he complained that it felt like poop in his diaper.
Eventually, one day after his twin sister was night-trained around 3.5 years old, he decided that he wanted to wear undies at night. Prior to that, he'd woken up soaking wet every single morning. We told him if he could stay dry in his diaper for two nights, he could wear undies. Somehow, he did that and we moved to undies. We also started doing a dream pee with him around 1am (the baby was getting up anyway so we were awake). After about 2 weeks in undies with a dream pee, he was fully night-trained.
Neither of my kids get up in the MOTN to go to the bathroom.
I am following this thread as we're have the same problem. DS is 2.5 and 39 pounds. He is consistently peeing through his size 6 Huggies Overnight diapers, they weigh like 2 pounds in the morning. I also looked at the diaper aisle for a long time today, and didn't see a better solution.
I feel like someone else had this issue recently. @hannymaren maybe?

I don't have any advice about which diapers to use, but I'd definitely take him to pee in the middle of the night.
DD1 has been night trained since age 3, but recently (age 5) she's been having accidents. We didn't want to backtrack and put her in pull ups, so I've just been doing a "dream pee" with her. I go in sometime around 11pm (I'm either not asleep yet or I'm up to nurse DD2) and just carry her to the potty. She doesn't even wake up, and she's never had an accident on a night when I've remembered to do it.

My DD still wets at night at 8. She weighs 43 pounds. We have had the best luck with walmart pull ups, but you can also throw a maxi pad in the pull up to help absorb. I just cut a slit in the water proof backing to let the liquid seep through to the diaper. They used to make what was basically a big maxi pad you add to a diaper, but they stopped several years ago. They were awesome.

UnderJams and dream pee for the win! We've tried everything. This was the best combo. We still dream pee both DS1 (6.5yo) and DS2 (4yo) even though they no longer wear pull-ups. Otherwise they wake 2-4am to pee, thus waking me up. I'd much rather have them dream pee before I go to bed and then not have my sleep disturbed in the middle of the night. (Now if only DS3 (21mos) would STTN.)
When DS was wetting through every overnight diaper a size larger than he needed, we started using diaper booster pads inside an overnight diaper. They'd be fine inside a pull-up, too, but would need changing if he got up to pee MOTN.

Just attempted a dream pee. He pretty much stayed asleep but cried when I put him on the potty and didn't go. I felt bad getting him up and then pretty much having to make him stand while half asleep so I could pull his pants and pull-up down. :/ He was still dry from going to bed a little over an hour ago. So, moving on to other types of diapers/pull-ups.

Also, pampers makes cruisers in a size 7, so that with the above mentioned booster pad is what we used for our big 3 year old. I think diapers.com carries the size 7.
My DD2 wore a pull up until almost 7.5yrs old. She was an extremely deep sleeper. I will say dream pee & peeing before bed did help her not pee out of her pull-up. Finally just one day it stopped just like my Pediatrician said it would.
DD3 peed at night until almost 5. She actually stopped a month or 2 before DD2 did. I think both of their bedwetting was aggravated by their chronic constipation.
Can I tell you how nice it is to not have to buy pull-ups anymore? DD1 stopped peeing at night at 26mo, so it was really hard for me to understand what was going on with DD2. But glad I didn't make an ordeal out of it. Hope you find something that works well for your kiddo. DD3 had to wear a diaper of DD4s occasionally when I had run out of pull-ups. She didn't seem to care.
Have you tried double bagging him? When my kids were too small to fit the size up we put them in 2 of their current size. It wasn't perfect but their bed stayed dry.
