I have hired a house cleaner. I never thought I would have the money to do it. But she is pretty reasonable. $60 every other week. She will clean both bathrooms, my kitchen and the main living room.
I am ridiculously excited about it. it came up in counseling that I feel like all I do is work, clean up after the kids, and taxi them around town. My DH feels like he does the lions share of the housework (which he does) because he works from home. We talked and we thought that this would be a good solution and would free up some time.
I am jealous. I have never gotten anyone consistent. I keep trying, but I am apparently weird about having someone on my house on a regular basis. Plus I haven't found anyone as Detailed as me.
Good for you! That will make your lives so much easier.
I would love to hire a house cleaner, but I can't seem to pull the trigger. I feel a lot of guilt, like I "should" be able to keep the house spotless, do all the laundry, cook delicious meals, spend quality time with my children and DH, and look like a million bucks all at the same time. Oh, and go to work too.
Reality = I can't do any of that. lol. *tear*
Yeah, I don't have kids but working full time and keeping the house spotless is challenging. Add on to that, meal planning, grocery shopping, errands, changing the bed linens,...a house cleaner is so worth it. I hate making the damn bed.

This is my hesitation too. I am weird about having people in my house alone and I'm very detailed too. Plus I have trust issues. I'm thinking about seeing if someone will just do a deep clean every 3-4 months. Not sure how reasonable that would be.

Definitely get a referral from a friend/relative who has one. I wouldn't hire anyone without a personal referral. I found mine through my brother. He found her when he bought his house and the woman called and asked if he'd be interested in keeping her on. She's awesome and 100% trustworthy.

This. I found this woman from my friend. she highly recommended her and through convos I realize she cleans about 5 of my friends houses. They all highly recommend her
I just went back to work this week and splurged on some housekeepers over the weekend. It's been so nice to have a relatively clean place to come home to each night, and as a result, we're more motivated to put everything away and keep everything clean.
Hopefully we can do this every two weeks, but at the minimum, once a month.
I travel so damn much and I do NOT want to spend a lot of time cleaning on the weekends when I'm home. I pay mine $80 and she comes every 2-3 weeks. Life is good.

a house cleaner is the best investment I could have made. DH and I both work full time and neither of us wants to clean on our free time. This eliminates any bickering of who is doing what!
I have only hired house cleaners that have worked for other friends and have proven themselves trustworthy.
