I've got a couple, anyone else have questions today?
1) What age do I start using toothpaste on my child? I know the fluoride ones are bad, but they make fluoride free infant toothpaste. My pedi told me when she got her first tooth to just use water on the brush (she was 5 months old). She has 8 teeth now. I feel like I should be using something more than water, but is there a point?
2) Is it ok for the convertible car seat base to hang over the edge? I know the infant seat is ok with 80% on the seat, but is a convertible the same? Apparently my Jeep has really short seats, and I just don't know how I'd find one small enough if they have to be 100% on the seat. (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Graco 4ever - there is approx. 1" overhang)
Re car seat i would email the car seat lady to ask, maybe she can help.
Wtf wtf wtf is going on with my child. She is whining CONSTANTLY about nothing. She's extra clingy. She's eating like crap. Did I mention the whining? It is making me an insane person.
Is she a toddler? Because toddlers, man. We get the highest highs and the lowest lows, all in the span of about 5 minutes.
It's probably teeth, or baby angst. Maybe dress her up all emo and take pictures.
She just turned one this month. Someone at work said something about the wonder weeks. I never paid attention to those, but apparently there is one around this time. I might sell her to a circus.
Does anyone have experience with steel cut oats for babies (7months)? L had some the other day since I was eating them too. Today... poop is not going well for him. He is straining so much and so sad. He's had like 4 or 5 diapers with just a bit of poop (plopable- don't need to spray like normal). Everything I'm reading says steel cut and oats in general should be good for pooping and not cause constipation. I've given him a bunch of apple and some water today. Oh and took a rectal temp. Anything else I can do to help him?
Prunes and lots of leg movement - sorry L!
I was just thinking about giving J some oatmeal soon, and I was planning on plain old Quaker oats. Maybe it's just his body reacting to a new food? J hasn't had a good BM in a couple days - my folks are watching him today and they're in for a poop-splosion!

I think it might just be a new food. I'm going to try the oats again next week. They should be fine as far as I can tell.. He did end up getting "the big one" out overnight. Lol. He is much happier today!
We are going to a wedding. WTH do I do with a non-walking baby for hours at a wedding?
When? I have a silk ring sling you could borrow.
It's in mid-October. Unfortunately, my back is an asshole, and it doesn't get along with the RS anymore (which is sad, because I love them). Thank you so much for offering!
Amazing...I think this might be me, although my Tula doesn't match!

If you care maybe you could rent a matching carrier or wrap from pax baby?
Or use it as an excuse to get something that does match! Although I really hate how I look right now.
night weaning question - L is 8 1/2 months and has 2 feeds a night. I know he does not need them but I don't know how to eliminate them since he is EBF. I would like to have him night weaned by the time he is a year in 3 1/2 months. Any suggestions?
Eta - not EBF since has solids now
I would send DH in first to see if he can calm him first. If you need to nurse I would first make sure you just nurse and then immediately put him back down. When you are ready to cut out a session I would reduce the time you nurse incrementally until you eliminate the feeding...that is what worked for me.
My supply is really hit or miss these days. I replaced some of my pump parts and I pumped 11oz yesterday in 2 sessions, but today it was only 8 oz. DS eats 12 oz at day care every day (he's there for 8.5 hrs), he eats yogurt in the am, puree for lunch, pouch and/or shredded cheese/chicken for dinner. I have approx 100oz of frozen bm. Will I make it to his first birthday? He will be 9 months old on Sunday.

I’ve been listening to the SleepEasy Solution on CD in the car, and it recommends this:
1) Take a few days to note what time he’s eating and for how long. [Pray there is some consistency.]
2) The first night you begin overnight weaning, get him up to feed him one hour before he’s due to eat and feed him for a minute or two less than he typically eat. So, say he typically wakes at 11:30 and nurses for 6 minutes and again at 3:30 and nurses for 8 minutes. On night one, you’re going to pick him up at 10:30 and feed him for 4 - 5 minutes and then get him up at 2:30 and nurse for 6 - 7 minutes.
3) Do the same thing each subsequent night until you’ve eliminated the feeds.
They claim babies experiencing this will go right back to sleep after eating or, at most, will cry/fuss for a couple minutes. And the point is to get the food in them prior to their needing it so they don’t associate waking up and crying with being fed; any feeding happens on your terms, and then if they wake and cry, you know it’s not actually due to hunger. They also say no baby as old as yours *needs* to eat overnight, like you said you know your little guy doesn’t; but if you’ve been feeding him overnight for a long time, he may truly be hungry then, out of habit. So, the gradual approach can help in case he wants to transfer those ounces to daytime feedings.
For the record, I didn’t do this myself. Just passing it along since they happened to cover it and the book is so fresh in my mind!
Good luck! Let me know if you try this and it works for you.
