it fit us very well. BJL was 7lb6oz when born..so average size...the insert we got was for 5-11lbs, and we didn't have any problems. we removed the insert when she was about 12lbs (because we didn't realize she went "over" weight limit. she never had a problem, always could breathe fine, everything....
i still have the infant insert...h wants me to sell it. i'm not sure, i might want to use it for baby#2, but not sure yet. we only used it for like 4 weeks. it's britax, if you're interested
i didn't like the carriers, bc most people bring the baby in/out everywhere in the carrier..the baby stays in the carrier and sleeps all day. baby gets confused on day/night, because she's ALWAYS sleeping during the day, and not woken up. or, baby sleeps when you're out and about..then you get home and are tired, but baby is rested and ready to play, but you need to nap..but can't because your baby is awake.
having the convertible, we are forced to wake her up to take her in/out of the car, and she'll remember that daylight, people move around, etc..it's more exciting, time to stay awake, etc. sometimes she goes right back to sleep, but at least she becomes aware and notices that it's daytime.
honestly, i think this is why i haven't had any trouble sleeping..even though bjl wakes up a lot during the night, she goes right back to sleep and it's not any trouble at all. never has been.
well, we did have some rainy days, but what we did was just have a blanket covering her to take her out..an extra receiving blankie in the car to block the rain until we can transfer her to either stroller or baby-wearing-device.

Bkb was born 10/17... If I went back in time and wasn't a runner I would have gone with a convertible car seat. The weather wasn't an issue at all for us. We just held bkb a lot. Our bjiorn was our life line. I say if I wasn't a runner because we needed an infant car seat in order to use the bob before bkb was six months in age. Being able to run with her kept me sane most days, so for that reason I wouldn't take back our decision. HTH!
I'm glad we went with a bucket seat. With Edmund's cleft it made going to weekly doctors appointments easier so that he could nap while at the hospital for sometimes 3-4 hours. I also liked that when we went to visit family and wanted to carpool we could just secure him in any car with the seat belt and not always have to take 2 cars. He slept through the night at 8 weeks and never had his days and nights mixed up.

I loved having the infant seat. I'm of the mind set the sleep begets sleep. And the less I have to wake a sleeping/tired baby and deal with a cranky baby the better. It was easier for daycare (had one seat that we left at daycare rather than being a seat for each car), and I'd much rather have the baby sleep while I'm eating or shopping or whatever and enjoy a peaceful meal/time with DH then deal with nursing or entertaining a baby at home than vice versa.
