The turnout is amazing. I wish we could get those numbers to the polls in the US.
Well to be fair it is kind of a big deal. I am sure you would get a high turnover too if it was a referendum for your state to separate from the country.

Plus, every single vote counts. There is no electoral college to make you feel insignificant.

This reminds me that I'm so thankful that the proposition for the six separate Californias didn't make it to the ballot for this Fall. Not that it'd be likely to pass, but still. Talk about a dumb idea.

DH will have a bit of one when he comes home from his trip in two weeks, but not as much as his eldest brother who lived there longer. I can always tell when it's his mom he's on the phone with though, since he splits the syllables of his words differently/more pronounced than when talking to others.
Our nephew used to "talk Scottish like Granny" when he was 5 or so. "Aye. Thingme. Aye, aye. Magic." Super cute.

It's crazy - one of my Scottish friends just texted me that she feels sick to her stomach and she can't believe she might wake up and not be British anymore. : ( She couldn't even vote because she's living over here so I guess she must feel powerless.

I think it'll be no. It's certainly leaning that way.

I hope so. I think a lot of 'no' voters have stayed quiet because the 'yes' voters can get really nasty. I wonder how many people who said they would vote 'yes' to keep the peace are actually voting no.
It's been really divisive. : ( I hope there isn't any trouble tomorrow.

To remain diplomatic, I will say there seems to have been some hostility on both sides. It is a huge deal, so I get it.
The whole idea of this referendum was a united Scotland, so I hope they don't turn against each other.
Holy shit, so I was all "why don't they have Dublin reporting yet?" and then I remembered that Dublin is in Ireland and Ireland is not Scotland and apparently I need remedial geography classes.
I should go to bed, but I just can't until I know.
Well, now that there's only a few left, I'm in the why go to bed now? spot myself. We've waited this late, what's 6 or 7 more polls? I should have gone an hour ago.

Really, I couldn't sleep without knowing the result anyway.
The last thing this has done is united Scotland. Pretty much exactly the reverse. It's been a nasty lead up to the vote.
Ugh I know. Even with a no vote there will be a lot of change in Scotland I think. For the better. It won't stop at the vote, so hopefully the 2 sides (and GB) can work together to implement changes.

Agreed. I think Scotland has made its point. The BBC has called it as No. I hope that stays true and I hope there is no violence tomorrow.
