FoxInFiji, my youngest sister (who is 23 now) was breech. The OB did the whole "dig and flip" thing for her but apparently did it too early and my sister flipped breech again! Thankfully, she ended up head down right before my mom went into labor. Here's hoping your LO is just a turd like my sister was!
I am, but not because she's breech (well, she was at the beginning of the month, who knows where she is now), I had a CS with DD1 after being hooked up to pit for 12 ish hours at increasingly high dosages and never progressed beyond 3 cm. The consensus of my 3 Dr.s (OB, and 2 MFM's) was that I would most likely NOT go into labor on my own. I'd rather schedule the surgery than have to have it after hours of labor.
That makes sense. Having a planned CS just seems so much easier to accept when there are other medical reasons than just the baby's position ykwim?
I do. My MIL had my DH breech - so I know it can be done - but even if it was the only reason for me to have a CS I'd probably do it anyway. Having had a CS previously, knowing that recovery wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, knowing that this is our last child (unless something REALLY weird happens lol), it's just not THAT important to me to have a vaginal birth in the long run.
AmyRI wow I'm surprised that ended up working for you in only two sessions! I have been doing a lot of reading on my options and I was discussing visiting a Webster chiro weeks ago with my doctor. Everyone kept telling me to wait because there wasn't anything they could do that early on so I've been patiently waiting. It doesn't look like it would be covered by my insurance but it might still be worth looking into. I've also read that acupuncture can help but I tried that once for some pain and it didn't do anything for me. Unfortunately we don't have any doctors in my area that specialize/do vaginal breech births anymore. And with this being my first the doctor says there is no way they would allow it. Trust me I've been challenging her on my options and why I'm limited to them.
The chiro I went to liked to start between 32 and 34 weeks - he was delighted I showed up at 33 weeks. His rationale is that any bigger and it's harder to make room for baby to flip, any earlier and there's too much room to flip back again. He also really disliked when people waited until a couple days before a version or scheduled c-section, since it takes multiple adjustments usually so at a minimum of a week. Thankfully my insurance covered all but a typical copay, but I was willing to pay OOP to avoid the c-section if possible. I had the same mentality about it that you do!
Now you've got me curious about the 5% of babies are breech statistic. Perhaps I will go poll MMM, haha.
Also, everyone gets down on the whole "baby can't flip late in pregancy, there's no room!" thing, but my DD was vertex at my 40w appointment, flipped to frank breech at 40w5d, and I went into labor and delivered her vaginally at 40w6d - and she was 9 pounds! There's truly no telling when babies will flip.
Yes planning to have another child in is part of my CS worry thatgirl2478 but the fact that VBACs are more common is reassuring. Plus my doctor said I'd be an excellent candidate for one.
AmyRI you've inspired me to reach out to some chiro offices listed on that site today. I was surprised that my doctor has no background or previous knowledge of the Webster technique. I keep hearing the baby has no room to move at the end comments as well but I'm not sure I believe it in my case. I'm tall (6') with a long torso, DH is 6" shorter and the baby is measuring to be an average height & weight, she's still be very actively moving around so far, and she hasn't "fallen out of my rib cage" yet as my doctor puts it so I'm hoping there is still plenty of room for her.
I mostly lurk here but used to post more on the old D&R. I'm 17 weeks so and have been feeling pretty good since I hit my second trimester. Although I'm hoping this new tailbone ache isn't going to get much worse anytime soon.

Yay! Congrats! I was excited to see you over on GoP. Hopefully it will go away. I had some similar sciatca pain and a few other random pains around that time that were thankfully short lived (only about a week or so).
