I haven't but I would totally do it. Parking sucks ass and there is giant traffic line and they have shuttles in from the outlier parking lots anyway. A shuttle from Mystic sounds brilliant.
I am still on the fence because they run so infrequently
Just go early if you don't take the shuttle. Like, get there before 10am.
Did you go this year?
Ok, reading reviews on yelp and their FB page isn't encouraging. Everyone is just complaining about parking, but they never really say when they arrived or left.
Our plan is to leave the city by 8am. I am excited. The girls are excited too. They cannot wait to meet a "real life mermaid and a real life fairy"!!!

My friend left the fest today at about 6pm and said it took them almost 90 minutes just to get out of the parking lot.

This totally sucks. As of now, we are just going to suck it up and park. If the kids weren't coming, we would do the shuttle. My concern about the shuttle is that it fills up quickly and is inconsistent in timing. No one is really saying anything about the shuttles.

We went to the Ren Fest this year, but did not take the shuttle. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened and left shortly after noon. We got a "close" parking spot and were able to leave with no wait, but the parking is all very far from the actual grounds now because they have a huge area where they have been mining sand. The path around the quarry is very rocky and muddy in spots. We had our kids with us, which is why we did an early arrival and left after lunch.
They actually have a shuttle at the fest to go to the gates from the parking lot. We had our stroller, so we didn't use that.
