He has Von Willebrand disease (a bleeding/clotting disorder) and our vet (and second opinion) advised against getting him fixed. His um, urges, became too strong.
You should look into Zeuterin. It's just a zinc injection into his balls that sterilizes him. No surgery, fast recovery, lower testosterone so you're not stunting his development, no anesthesia which some Dobermans never wake up from, and he gets to keep his balls.
We did this with Hilo (4yo) earlier this year. We never fixed him because we wanted him to develop fully (til 2years) then time went on and he's never had those urges so we left him alone. We finally got a female and decided to get it done just in case. We drove 4 hours one early morning, dropped him off for an hour, worked in the car, picked him up and went home. He was droopy for the day because they tranquilized him and put him on pain meds. He slept all night then woke up perfectly normal the next morning and was running about like his normal self again.

I'd never heard of that before--but will definitely look into it, because he severely needs it. We go to my parents house and we have to watch him like a hawk, or he'll pee on stuff in the house because my mom has female (fixed) dogs. He never pees indoors any other time.

He's peeing inside other people's homes? Yikes. Might have to potty train him there like you would at home?
Zeuterin won't completely eliminate the testosterone but it will cut it down to (I want to say) 20%? Hilo's calmed down a lot but I can't say for sure if it's because of Zeuterin or because he finally got a playmate that has far more energy lol. But I think it's helped a lot.

He knows to go outside, but when he gets around female dogs he goes crazy and he "marks his territory". It's usually only during the first hour upon arrival that we have to watch him, but needless to say he spends a lot of time outside when we go there.
Duh, Hamster, why don't you ask your friend that's the city animal control officer if there are many reported issues or rumors. Logic!
There was somebody there this afternoon, and I want to be by ourselves the first time there just to get a lay of the land and all that. It's supposed to rain this week, so that should be no problem!
It's 3 hours, and it's designed to be playful with a learning component.
There's a tunnel, to work on fears, small jumps, balancing, interactive play with people that give rules (i.e. tug with control - when to play, when to stop) and more. Plus, they take the big dogs to the park.
AND they don't think it's an issue that Wyatt isn't 100% UTD with his shots because of his kidneys.
The package is $20 a class, so not much cheaper than daycare, but I'm pretty intrigued.
