I've had to transfer my contacts a few times lately (to a loaner phone when my old phone got repaired, to my old phone when I got it back, and now to my new phone).
Some contacts are coming up as phone numbers rather than names when they call/text. That can be really confusing since I know no-one's number. Yet they're listed in my contacts list -- like, I texted my friend Joe by picking his name from my list, but then when he wrote back, it showed up as a number rather than the name.
Any way to fix this? It happened on all three phones, and on iOS 7 and iOS 8.
In my case I found that in the old phone, I had imported contacts and it brought in the email addresses from the cloud. However when I originally saved some numbers it defaulted to saving on the device, not the cloud, so they didn't transfer.
I'm not sure what the setting is off the top of my head that needs fixed.
DH had this problem and I'm not sure how he fixed it... I'll ask him tonight.
Thanks!
egeiger, it could definitely be cloud-related. I never used the Cloud, but then I enabled it when I got the loaner phone because the loaner was 16GB and my "real" phone was bigger than that, so I couldn't just restore my backup onto the 16GB phone. That's when things got wonky.
