Today's map comes from the Cooking Channel, which asked viewers to vote on each state's favorite/signature food. The results can be seen above, and you can get more details (and recipes) here. A lot of delicious choices, but also some controversial ones, including calling it fried ravioli instead of toasted in Missouri. Let the arguments begin!
Vinegar fries is a DE thing? I didn't realize that was any one place.
I approve of the choice in all states where I have an opinion (NJ, PA, MD). I think a more interesting map would be the 2nd and 3rd place winners. Just because it'd be more stuff that people outside the state don't know.

I think this works for us... mmmm Huckleberry pie is the only pie I like. (Honestly, I really just don't like pie and huckleberrys aren't as sweet so I like that pie better.)
Okay, first, they aren't meat pies, they are Runzas. Second, the map maker inverted the text for Kansas and Nebraska and I am irritated by it. Not being Kansas is one of the few things Nebraska has going for it.
During a vacation layover this summer, I had brisket at the freaking airport in Austin that was better than pretty much any barbecued brisket I've gotten in NJ/NYC restaurants.
Shrimp and Grits seemed like the weirdest thing before moving to SC.....Seafood and grits together in a bowl--no, thank you! But, it's grown on my H. I still don't care for it. Also, that BBQ sandwich from NC doesn't look like the ones I typically see.

Now, I'm hungry!
isn't the bbq pork in NC split in style between east and west?

No problems w/ the ones I care about (CA, WA, WY, MI, MO, and PA) I'm actually relieved they choose the lowly philly cheesesteak over that abomination called scrapple. ewwww
I'm perfectly content w/ MD's choice .. NOTHING better in the summer than Old Bay steamed Blue Crabs .. omg some of the bestest stuff on earth.

although...MH would probably like me to point out that ACTUALLY there's slim to no chance that the steamed crabs at a crab place ctually have Old Bay on them. It's actually (insert brand here) crab seasoning, which is the same basic mix as old bay, but a coarser grind of spices and cheaper by volume.

I've only had the vinegar based BBQ. Different amounts of vinegar may distinguish. I was actually talking about the way it looked on the bun. I typically see a smashed bun and a heaping mound of BBQ...LOL . On a side note, growing up in NC, Friday was BBQ sandwich day at school. It was a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it--in elementary school!

That, and a lot of the crabs are not from the bay, sadly. Though the harvest has gotten better in recent years IIRC

Yes, if is split. Don't quote me, but I believe east is vinegar and west is mustard.

Utah - funeral potatoes... Correct! I actually have managed to avoid eating them in the 8 years I've lived in Utah, but they're definitely a ubiquitous food item.

It was doing pretty good. This year is ROUGH. low numbers and small. they need to really scale back the harvest for the next couple of years - if not have a total moratorium for a year.
Also, Dear all of Connecticut: Fucking ew. Love, Lucy.
As someone born and raised in CT, I agree with you. New Haven pizza? Sure, I could see that. White clam pizza? No.
If fried green tomatoes are Alabama's, I want to know why you can't get any that are decent here. All the awesome fried green tomatoes I've ever had have been in Georgia.
