No more diapers and bottles, so I just need something big enough to carry snacks, a few toys, water bottles, etc. I probably need a cross body or backpack for outdoor activities as well as something nicer for other outings. I have no idea where to even start looking. Save me from using my Jansport backpack that I got when I was in the 10th grade, 20 years ago, please and thank you.

Whenever people ask for bag recommendations I always post this link. There is a bag for every situation here and they are super durable. I love my Lug bags.
I recently switched from our big MMJ baby diaper bag to the Lands End small bag - crossbody, durable, outside pockets perfect for sippies and I can fit ~ 3 diapers (realize that's not a requirement for you), wipes, snacks, hat and toys.
It was also only $20. I'll try to find you the link shortly.

H got me this one last mother's day. DD1 is still in diapers, so we carry a little bit of everything in here. It's casual, but can be dressed up and it can fit pretty much anything. I'll even throw towels in it to use for the pool or pull out the diapers and snacks and use it for work in a pinch. Very versatile.
I use the Madewell Transport Tote a lot and love it. Fits everything I need without being TOO big.
Does your bag's insides rub off on all your stuff? ILs bought me a Lucky Brand outlet version of the Madewell Tote and the inside of the leather rubs off on any papers/things with edges. Wasn't sure because it was cheaper quality or if that's just what leather does.
I use a Longchamp bag and it's adequate. I just throw a skip hop diaper clutch in there. However something with pockets or dividers would be much more useful, imo.

Not that I've noticed (and I've had it a year). I throw DD's change of clothes, a leather clutch, receipts, and other assorted stuff in there and it's never come out brown or anything.
I've been looking for something like this for awhile, but didn't even know what to search for.
I got an awesome bag from the hospital when DD1 was born, and it's falling apart. This looks like just what I need to replace it -- one shoulder backpack with lots of pockets!
