My daughter is 4 weeks old today. For the past few days I've noticed a dramatic increase in the amount that she's been spitting up. There's been a couple projectile incidents which are very frightening where it's pouring out of her nose as well. She's EBF and seems to be gaining weight and having an appropriate amount of wet and soiled diapers. Is this something I should be concerned about? How do I know if it's reflux or something in my diet that's bothering her?

Is she happy when she is spitting or is she upset? If she is crying and screaming, take her into the pediatrician. If she is happy and gaining weight no worries. hth.

She generally seems happy but cried when it came out her nose.

I would do the standard things that you are normally told to help aid reflux symptoms and see if things improve.
1. Keep her upright for 20-30 minutes after feeding 2. No pressure on her tummy or jostling around 3. Roll her to her side for diaper changes as opposed to lifting her legs up and towards her belly 4. Burp baby well, but don't sit her high up on your shoulder and compress her tummy while you burp
My DD2 was a projectile spitter and we did reflux meds for a while. Even after stopping meds if I picked her up and held her close to me on my chest, my boob caused enough pressure on her to make her spit up.
Some kids just spit up a lot. DD2 was certainly getting enough because she was gigantic and rolly even with all the spit up.

As long as she is happy and gaining weight, it's probably not a problem. Mine is a huge (HUGE) spitter and always has been. Like puddles everywhere, multiple times a day. I use reciting blankets as burp cloths and soaked multiples a day.
The doc isn't concerned because he doesn't seem in pain and is growing. He really doesn't even seem to notice it happening most of the time, though I sure do
A couple of months ago I gave up the minimal caffeine that I drank, at the recommendation of many on here. It took about 4 weeks for me to really notice a big difference (vs the 2 that most people said), but it has been a big difference! He still spots up more than a normal baby but it is mostly dribbles and not puddles. We don't soak recording blankets anymore and I can typically get growth a whole day in the same outfit!
I asked our pediatrician about this. He said as long as she was gaining weight normally and generally happy, she was just a spitter. He said an abnormal amount would be about two handfuls of spit up.

Thanks for the replies. It's been crazy today. She's either eating, spitting up, or sleeping. I've burped her as often as I can but she won't always burp. It's only concerning me because it came on so suddenly and is nonstop.
