I didn't have much time to dig, but how about something like this? This looks like three separate pieces...maybe get just one section with doors and replace the shelves with a tension rod?

Check out IKEA STUVA. @mrswindycity uses them in her playroom and posted a pic recently.
I'll probably be getting the storage box for DD's dress up clothes with a smaller basket for tiaras/wands/smaller stuff. But it looks like there are some other options that have drawers and doors.
I made carts from those plans. one for my kids and one for a friends DD. It was pretty simple, I would make them larger than the plans as written- I added 4 inches to the height and 6 to the length and I still wish it was larger.

@my4girls, those are awesome!
side note, did you buy a dress up set from somewhere to stock it up or did you have a bunch of stuff from different places?
I think I'm going to have my husband make it for DD1 for Christmas and I figure we can stock it full of new stuff too. (she mainly just has her disney princess dresses she uses for dress up so we need some more stuff).

just a bunch of different outfits from after Halloween sales
I think a storage ottoman might be my best bet (we don't have a coffee table). I worry that Nora will do acrobatics off it though - she's such a monkey!
