I'm about 75% thrilled and 25% disappointed. I'm thrilled because it means that we get to stay close to family and friends but a little disappointed because I was kind of excited for an adventure.
The best part is it means that H will have a job that he will likely love. The RCMP does not do community policing (traffic stops, responding to 911 calls, etc.) in Ontario as we have our own provincial police force. Most new RCMP officers have to do at least one community policing posting before applying for more specialized work. Every once and awhile, a new cadet is hand selected to start with a specialized post. This was my H!
He doesn't know what or where yet, but it will likely be something like: criminal intelligence, organized crime, protective policing, financial crime, immigration task force, national security, border response, etc. Working on one of these units was his long term goal but it was assumed that he'd have to put in his time as a "beat cop" before being promoted to one of these positions. I'm so happy for him!
I knew he was kicking butt out there and this proves it! I am so happy for him!
that's awesome! does he have to do more training for those roles? will he have to go away again?
and for some reason, i missed that he was rcmp. i thought he was military and i was secretly hoping he'd get stationed in BC so we can have west coast gtgs.

Six months on the job training but we'll be living together again for that.
