Ugh, I'm in so much pain this morning. L has recently started sleeping longer (Yay! <)) but it sucks for my breasts. Lately I've had more clogged ducts. Though this morning is the worse pain I've ever experienced. I left home without grabbing my gel thing that I can warm up in the microwave or freeze. I'm at work now and it hurts to even walk. I will take some ibuprofen but does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do while I'm at work today? Does this mean I will need to start pumping in the middle of the night? Right now, I nurse before taking L to his caregiver, pump 3 times at work, nurse him when we get home and throughout the night. I do not pump on the weekends, but I did pump Saturday morning because I had a very full and leaky boob. Please help!
If you have a diaper on you, you can fill it with warm water and use it as a warm compress and then massage while pumping.
I would not get up MOTN to pump. I suffered from plugged ducts for months and took Lecithin supplements daily to help. You can get them from amazon or at GNC.
I would not get up in the middle of the night to pump. Your body will adjust in time.
Definitely try Breast compressions while you pump. Sometimes pumping while leaning forward ("dangling") helps me clear clogs. And if possible, apply moist heat while you pump (towel, cloth, diaper)
