Sorry, "petites" do not fit me as the crotch ends up at my knees.
I do agree with the removal of fabric being easier, but it's still costly.
I know. My SIL is around 4'10" or so. But for many women under 5'4", it does work and it's a universal option.
But no single mainstream store stocks clothes for women over 5'9". None. I've looked. A select few retailers carry it thru their catalog or website, but nothing is ever in store with the exception of perhaps jeans.
I, personally, find it patently ridiculous that they build/design these clothes to fit 6'+ tall models but don't put a single goddamned article of clothes in their stores that fit a regular 6' woman of any size.
My H has a similar problem as a tall skinny guy, so even that isn't foolproof. He has a 34" waist and a 36" inseam. Go look thru Kohls or Target or Macy's some time and try and find that. It doesn't exist. It barely exists online! We won't discuss his ridiculous 15 1/2" neck and 36" sleeve.
thank you! It's ridiculous that we can't buy hardly anything in person. My DH even wears almost the same size as yours. Just 16.5" neck. We can sometimes find his size at stores but very few brands fit him well because he's thin. They usually look baggy.
We are going custom, at least for him and his work clothes. They charge about the same price as (upscale) retailers in the US. Have you looked into this locally? I was shocked at how much better my DH looked in his first outfit. I didn't even realize how ill-fitting his clothes were. We can't afford whole new wardrobes but at least something will look good.

I've found some slim fit shirts tend to be ok. I haven't been able to justify the cost of having custom made shirts. Like you can have custom made Brooks Brothers, but it starts at $160.
Honestly, some of the best fitting shirts he purchased were when he was in India. Go figure.

oh no I'd never pay that. We are using a local tailor, not a one associated with a store, but I wasn't sure how common that is in the US. We pay $45 for a dress shirt.
