I've taken the plunge and started knitting socks. I'm not really sure what took so long, but now I have an issue: what size of sock blockers do I need? Am I going to need more than one set? I am a US 7.5, the socks I'm knitting are for someone who is a US women's 9. I might at some point knit some for H at some point if he is nice (US men's 11).
I guess I'm wondering 1) Can I get away with using the same blockers for a women's 9 as a 7.5? and 2) Is there any way I can get away with using the same set to block a larger pair?
My collection of knitting knitting accoutrements is growing by the day. I'd prefer not to have to buy two sizes if one will suffice. drloretta meshaliuknits

I would use the same blockers for both. It may not get the toe, but that's generally stockinette anyway.
And if I'm being perfectly honest, I only block my socks with blockers that I bought in my size. Other people's socks I just mat block like everything else.

According to most sock knitters blocking isn't necessary since they're going to stretch out on the person's foot.
I did some crazy internet searching for sock blockers last year when I thought I needed a pair. You really don't other than to make them look really good when gifting.
Follow up question: do sock blockers actually serve to make them look prettier when lying flat than just normal wet blocking would? The pair I'm currently working on are a gift and I would probably consider buying something for vanity's sake alone if it will make them look amazaballs while sitting in the box.

Yes, particularly if they're lace. Plain stockinette, probably not much difference.
