The culinary arts students at the community college where i work are making a lunch next Tuesday as part of their Garde Manger (cold foods) class. I signed up to be a guinea pig for a Cuban sandwich with sides: black bean, jicama and corn salsa, tostones and a pickle. My second choice, should the Cuban not be available, is hand-made Italian sausage sandwich with onions and peppers, cucumber, onion and tomato salad, orzo salad and a pickle.
It sounds sooo good but now I'm afraid it's going to be like gas station eggs or worse...coworker meatballs.

My husband is a high school teacher and his favorite day is when you can buy from the home ec students. I've only had their cupcakes, but they were ah-may-zing! I agree. Standards are high and the teachers are verifying quality. Enjoy!
