I can't help but feel sad. 15months is a long time when you are little to miss your mom or is this a thing where she will go in and serve a week and then be released due to overcrowding or something?

I'm not so sure RHONJ "celebrity" is on the same level as A-listers. I'm curious to see how this plays out.
They will not serve concurrently. One of them will be home with the kids while the other is in jail.
I root for criminals to go to jail.
I think for non-violent crimes like this situation that alternative sentencing is far more appropriate (and a better use of my tax dollars) than sticking someone in prison.
I admit to being pretty against prison sentences in a lot of situations, but wouldn't restitution, community service, a restriction on types on future employment and the like make a more appropriate consequence?
I don't necessarily disagree that that type of punishment wouldn't be more suitable, but as I understand it, the guidelines for Federal sentencing aren't nearly as flexible.
Does anyone else think that Gia (the 13 year old) is going to be very negatively affected by this? Your mom goes to jail right when you hit those bad teen years. Your entire life has practically been filmed and photographed and exploited. Your dad, at best, will go to jail too - and maybe get deported. I hope lots of family is there to step in, because I can foresee her latching on to someone not so great and going down a bad path.
Sadly, yes. I think all four girls have a long, hard road ahead of them.
In the season premiere this year, Teresa complained that she was using all her money for lawyers and that they had not one cent saved for the girls college. Now with one parent being in jail for the next 4.5 years, Gia will have zero funds by the time she's 18.
And Teresa once dropped $300k in CASH for furniture. Those parents have shipwrecked their family.

Minimum-security prison is no picnic. I have a client in there right now. He says the trick is: kick someone's ass the first day, or become someone's bitch.

I don't think they'll ever be able to make restitution. Their debt is huge. Teresa went from her parents' house to her husband's. The only job she ever had was being on TV.
I feel sorry for her kids, but again, many children in this country have one or both parents in jail. Those children are suffering because of their parents' shitty choices. Why are these four girls special?

Something tells me Juicy Joe will not do well in prison. He thinks he's a lot tougher than he actually is. Plus, I'm assuming he'll lose access to the steroids . .

You think I only feel sympathy for these four kids?
No, but these are the kids we're talking about here. It's a sin that they'll pay for their parents' transgressions, but you can't let people off the hook when they commit numerous crimes just because they have kids. The blame rests on Joe and Teresa. They did this.

Where did I say they should just be let off the hook?
There are other options besides prison, including some of the alternative sentances I gave examples of.
I'm not arguing this. Clearly the feds had more than enough evidence of serious crimes that warrant the punishment. Even after they got busted they were still trying to hide money and get around the system. These aren't good people who robbed a bank to pay for their kid's surgery. They were greedy and entitled with no regard for the law or the people they screwed, and now they're boohooing because they got snagged. I do not feel bad for them at all. Actions have consequences, and for these actions, that's jail.
US Weekly reporting she will surrender Jan 5th after spending the holidays with her family. I don't think I could enjoy that time knowing what's around the corner.
Also Kim G (people who watch the show will know her) it tweeting some horrible things now. What a cu**.

I think she was a buyer for Macys in the 90s? Isn't that where she met Dina ?

Maybe. I only know her from watching the first three seasons, and I didn't think she worked before she got married.
