DD (15 months) has recently started walking around on her tiptoes. She looks down at her feet and smiles while she's doing it, so I'm guessing that it feels good/different to her. Do you think this is just a phase and/or regular weird toddler behavior that she will eventually outgrow? FWIW, she was a fairly early walker at 10.5 months, and has always walked flat-footed since then.
I'm not too worried about it (except for when she loses her balance and crashes into something), but just wondering if other people's kids have done the same thing.
I don't want to be alarmist because I really, don't know what I'm talking about at all, but SIL is a physical therapist and I've picked her brain a lot over the years. Tip toe walking is definitely something she was concerned and asked a lot about and if it's something that you've thought about enough to ask, I'd probably check with your pedi at her next appointment.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it somehow becomes problematic. Toddlers like to experiment with all sorts of weird sensory stuff because it feels different and funny. It's normal.
It can be a sign of a problem, but a lot of kids do it as a phase.
This.
DD went through it as a phase. Her cousin is almost 7 and still does it, despite some physical therapy. Bring it up to the pedi. Is she doing it while playing? Or just walking around?
