I don't read her very often anymore but I read her new post today about the trash can. First of all, that is weird in itself. Joking about Kennedy getting shot? Uh.... So wrong. I was cringing through the entire post - it was not good. Fake, forced and really tasteless jokes ( which I know isn't new for her but I keep hoping she will stop it)
Sigh. I remember when her blog was lime green and she posted about her husbands boss coming for dinner and how she dressed the table. I miss that old blog even if it only had a handful of readers.
Ugh. That is really bad. Especially since she wasn't even born when Kennedy was shot so what the heck was that all about? She has no filter about what is appropriate.
Yeah, she is quickly moving into YHL territory with her sharpie marker colored trash can.
Is she planning on homeschooling the boys? If so, I weep for their future.

Will goes to pre-school outside the home, so I would think he would go to school as well? Doesn't make much sense to do one or the other.
She seriously joked about Kennedy being shot? Is she going to claim she didn't know like she did with Amy Winehouse? I haven't read her blog in a long time but I imagine she's trying to richly capitalize on YHL's internet departure. Katie's taste is overall pretty good but she is just so tacky and class-less that I can't stomach her. I used to really like her. If she homeschools her kids I weep for their future as well.

I used to stick up for her on here, but she drives me crazy now. She is a very creative girl, but just not as funny as she thinks she is. To be honest, I only chek her blog to see if she posts any updates on the "crack"house. That place is beautiful.
eta: I read her post. Stupid, but her Kennedy reference was nothing like when she joked about Amy Winehouse. She was just referring to how people always know where they were when they heard the news he had been shot.

Yeah, the whole thing is only inappropriate because she wasn't even alive. Thank goodness she didn't go with anything more recent because the 6 comments would be completely different.
And for the love of god, no one needs a plastic trash can with sharpie on it. That stuff is gonna rub off on your kids.

I didn't read the comments, but did notice it was only 6. 6! She used to get a lot more, right? Ergh.

I also think she went to more comment moderation after the crack house incident, right? Maybe she's not around to approve right now.
Either way... there are a lot of other DIY trash cans that involve sharpies, duct tape, spray painting gold/black, etc. that would have looked a lot better. I wish she'd admit that it looks, like a DIY trash can with weird sharpie marks. Heck, even having one of her kids put a family picture on there would have been better.

I started reading comments and this one from her garage post stuck out at me... she stood up for YHL's exodus. That's not so surprising, just that she hints that blogs can end. Maybe her dotted trash can is her signaling a start to an end.

Hopefully you won’t just suddenly quit like the fine folks at YHL. A terrible betrayal to their readers. I would miss your great projects and outstanding sense of humor. Keep on raging against the garage. It really doesn’t look all that bad.

You think that is betrayal? I don’t. I mean…their blog didn’t cost anything and they never promised to be bloggers forever. As a superfan myself…I miss their blog terribly but a betrayal by definition is “to expose to an enemy by treachery or disloyalty”. Seems like pretty strong language for someone quitting their day job xo – kb
She could've saved herself an hour and picked up a pack of polk-a-dot stickers at the Dollar Store while she was there.
Even photoshop didn't make that trash can look good.
I don't find the Kennedy comment all that offensive. I just feel like it's something people say. I know I've heard it enough from those old enough and those not. I just think it's weird context in a post about a trashcan moreso than anything.
And how the F do you people read her? I know I babble a lot too..but an entire page about a trash can? She also writes like a gum snapping teenager trying to be cool.

The day is still young!!
No, for real, I don't recall how many they used to get. No where near YHL amounts, but I think she used to get many more than 6.
Of course, it's a filler post, I would expect not many posts about a freakin' sharpie-doodled trash can.
That house has so much potential and could be amazing, but they haven't done anything to it. I know they have 3 young kids, but gah just finish a project already!

I think they try to DIY too much when he works sooooo much. Hire someone to install the laundry room counter if you can't do it yourself. Hire a sitter if you can do it yourself but just can't with all the kids underfoot.

I appreciate that BP has stepped up their posting. Sure they do a lot of sponsored stuff and her writing is kinda "meh". Too many attempts at jokes that don't work. But she is great at DIY and I feel like its a least at little bit realistic that they really haven't done too much to the house. Its huge and he works and shes got 3 kids. But I love most of the projects she does and I think she is really talented.
Too many of the blogs I read have been going by the wayside, so I hope BP keeps up her good schedule and gives me something to read during slow times at work.

I submitted a comment that was pretty innocuous, but also critical of her sharpie garbage can and she didn't approve my comment. All I said was something like, "It's nice to have something with texture or design near that very white wall and desk, but I think you missed the boat a little on the sharpie design on the trash can. I think you could have done a design that had more of an ikat black/white feel that would have anchored the area more."
She is crazy. How on earth is that a Halloween costume if you can't even stand up in it because, you know, you're NAKED!
What? Seriously. WHAT?
WHY?
What, exactly is the purpose of this? WHY? Is she THAT desperate for clicks?
She "dressed up" (I use that term veeeeery loosely lol) as Naked and Afraid. Is that a TV show? I think it might be. So it was just her (And I mean literally JUST). Covered in mud. Crouching in the woods. Holding LJ. Who is also naked and covered in mud. TRICK or TREAT? You decide.

I saw the photo on GOMI (which surprisingly HASN'T blown up yet over it).

I'm just train of thoughting here.
Oh gotcha! Well I hope you enjoyed my description anyway! :-)
OMG. No Katie, just no. She really has no shame and no filter. Stop trying so hard KB. I liked you better when you were just a normal person with a blog. Geez.

Okay, I hated the sharpie trash can, but this Halloween costume is kind of funny. I wouldn't be brave enough to do that after having my three boys and having naked, crouching pics of my body covered in mud, I haven't seen the show, and you can't really wear it out, but I don't think it's unoriginal. It's more of a show-off online picture than a real costume, but that is her job and persona. It's a little funny too b/c her youngest's face is so surprised looking.
[Can't believe I don't hate it and am somewhat defending it?!]
