so this article made me feel better. One of our cats died last month and I've been worried the other cat has been lonely. He never comes around - we always have to seek him out to give him attention. Maybe he's happier when we just leave him alone.

I am sorry about your kitteh. We had to put our 19 yr old down back in March and we thought our other cat, Patty, would thrive being an only cat. Nope, he craved attention and needed the companionship from another cat. A month later, we got a kitten.
Considering Fatty is terrified of everyone not named tacos or dr.tacos, I think he loves us.
Velociraptor likes pets and attention from anyone, but he will only lie down and cuddle with dr.tacos and me.
HOLD UP. WHY IS YOUR NAME DIFFERENT AGAIN???
I had no idea you were you. Did you announce it?
2curlydogs posted asking for dinner ideas and said that enchiladas and burritos were out because they'd had tacos the night before. And I was all DOES NOT COMPUTE TACOS FOR LIFE.

Thanks. She was eighteen and died peacefully in her sleep, so that was good. Ben is already bugging us for another cat, but I'm not sure we'll get one.

I totally missed that and I was wondering where you went.
Because I work from home, when I'm NOT home, my black cat gets separation anxiety. If my H and I come home late, you can hear him meowing on the other side of the door. He hates to be picked up, or to sit in a lap, but he likes to sit NEXT to me when it's petting time. And when it's petting time, he will let you know. By poking you. If you stop and he's not done being pet, he will poke you, or meow. He's a funny guy.
Both cats also really like to be in the same room as us, like when we're watching TV at night. When we go to bed, girl cat runs upstairs and settles in between our pillows.

My girl looks grumpy here but only because her bath was interrupted. I work from home and she'll paw at my ley and cry until I pick her up and hold her. She'll curl up in my arms and purr until she falls asleep (or until I can't put off work anymore). My fluffy boy generally won't go into any other room than the one I'm in. He even gets off the bed and follows me to the bathroom if I get up in the middle of the night.
I've had many cats in my life, and I know they have loved me. Scientists can just suck it.
Whoa. I think @silver's KITTEH might be as fat as Fatty. Where does that sucker clock in?
A proud 15.5 lb at last count. It is a smaller chair but yeah. He's a monster. He eats the amount of food recommended for about a 10 lb cat and leaves some behind. The vet isn't even concerned... She says he's just a giant cat. I don't know how I ended up with him. I wanted a female kitten...

Oh, nevermind then. The vet wants Fatty DOWN to 16 pounds. :/

Casanova sits on the toilet while I shower so he can make sure I don't drown in there.
A truly selfless act.
One of my cats does that too, and then tries to lick the water off my legs in a panic when I get out. I think it really, really bothers her when mom is stuck in that glass box full of water. It's both sweet and kind of sad how upset she seems by it!
