R: I was sick of getting the wrong type of light bulb for this lamp I have... so I bought a ton of similar ones and finally got the right one.
AW: Some older lady handed me a $10 Starbucks giftcard at Target, and said that she just wanted to tell me I was doing a good job because my kids were so well-behaved. I stared at her, and then cried. Lol.
V: I have to return a shit-ton of light bulbs tomorrow.
I think it's so nice when people do stuff like that. I wonder if she carries one around for those situations.
Here's mine:
Vent: IL drama has reached a whole new level. We will be sending them a large sum of money now and a smaller amount monthly for the foreseeable future. This will probably Impact how much of a down payment we can make when we buy a house and we may have to adjust our other savings.
AW: I sit in DD's room while she goes to sleep and sometimes she will get up and come over to me so I will hold her, usually when she is really sleepy before she falls asleep. While I would prefer not to have to sit in here ever night, I love those moments.
Random: I really want a mojito later and really hope we have the stuff for it.
Sorry to be nosey, but why? Are you guys helping them out or paying them back?

You are amazing. You are so calm and rational and your kids are the best.
Thanks DW. It doesn't feel like it sometimes...today was a win. It's amazing what a little encouragement does for the soul. I want to be a nice old lady like that someday
Bleh. Both kids have colds apparently. We haven't had a day with no one sick since Joey started preschool. It's going to be this way until Spring, isn't it?
Probably. Last year we had 3 trips to the ER, 2 trips to to the pedi, and 2 missed days of school in the first 2 weeks...and that was just for one kid! We also had pink eye x2, strep x2, ear infections, and various colds that caused us to miss more days than I would have liked.
The good news is that they just brought home their first report cards for this year and have zero absences and zero tardies. I like to think they bring home the sickness less often as they get older.Or we just got really lucky so far.
V: we got a citation in the mail from code enforcement for weeds in the alley...that is city property, "low hanging branches" on the dead limb on the tree our landlord was supposed to have cut off months ago, and "random debris" between our house and the neighbor's house that THEY left there when they moved out. WHYTF are we being cited for things other people were supposed to take care of. It's like the story of my fucking life.
ETA: this certainly explains why three of our neighbors were out weed whacking the alley yesterday. They also didn't know they were responsible for that, apparently.
