How do I transition away from bottles? At this point I'm ready to throw the bottles in with my pump in a Viking style burial.
We use the NUK sippy. It's a lot like a bottle in terms of getting milk/water out. He started getting the idea of how to hold the handles at about 11 months, at 14 months he is a total pro.
I think someone else who uses them (@starry?) said these don't count as real sippy cups, but if this is cheating, I don't want to play fair. They use regular sippies at daycare and he seems to do okay on those.
How can I transition my baby to napping in the crib? During the worst of the sleep I started just laying with him on our bed. He drifts off without me doing anything but I have to be there. When I put him in his crib he cries and fights. He is crawling now so I feel like I have to lie there and watch him in case he wakes up.
I think it's normal for babies/toddlers -- even tired babies/toddlers -- to cry when put into the crib. When I put the sleep sack on V, he seems to get the idea that it's nap time. We use other cues -- draw the blackout curtains, put on the nature white noise soundtrack, etc. These days he's also into his lovey (finally!), so that seems to distract him.
For a while I would put him in his crib, get everything ready, and then just spend time tidying his room while he drifted off.
