How much breast milk/formula do you mix with how much cereal for baby's first time eating solids? Are we talking a couple ounces here or spoonfuls of milk? I'm assuming no water is involved.
And is frozen milk ok?
I haven't bothered looking at the oatmeal cereal container yet so forgive me if it's written there.
I foolishly froze milk in mostly 5-oz bags because I got lazy and wanted to speed up the process. Oops. Should have done a bunch of little bags for this purpose, huh?
Can you get the "just add water" oatmeal? I did that. Also, if you aren't sure how much to make, go for a very small amount (like a tbsp) even if the directions are for bigger portions. Bas only ate a little at first and we'd toss anything uneaten at the end of the meal.
If you really want to use bm, I'd pour off an oz or so from what you pump today instead of using frozen, just to avoid waste.
Ditto - I think I had the Earth's Best kind, and you can add water, BM, or formula. You could add a little water if you don't have BM.
I just used a little milk from whatever I'd pumped, or I used frozen a few times when I knew she'd need a bottle anyway later in the day.
Ditto OPs - I wouldn't waste BM on the solids. Just use water or cow's milk. I was annoyed at myself for making sweet potato puree with BM b/c then I wouldn't even taste it. Neither would my dog.

L makes this weird gagging sound, frequently. I haven't noticed it correlating with eating, or being hungry. Is this just part of her exploring making new noises (she is a very noisy baby, lol), or should I be concerned about reflux or something? She hasn't been spitting up more than normal or anything.
What do I do about this? All of the sudden DS will "bite" down while nursing and it is so freaking painful! He doesn't have any teeth yet, but I can only imagine what that'll feel like. What do I do? I've been pulling out and saying "no" with a stern voice/face.

What clothing does my baby need for winter? She probably will not be walking.
How can you entice your baby to put things in her mouth? She will eat if I put puffs or yogurt melts by her face, and she'll grab them if I put them on her tray, but she won't put them in her mouth. I pretend (or actually eat, lol) some to show her, and that doesn't work either.
How long did it take for your LO to go from pulling up to cruising?
Are tulas really that magical? She's getting to heavy for the moby and I find the ergo kind of uncomfortable for long periods of time.

DD has gone through a few phases of biting already, usually right before she cut some new teeth. The biggest help has been to pay close attention to when she seems like she's almost done nursing; it's like she gets bored and decides chomping on my nipple is a fun activity. If she bites, I end the nursing session right away. Sometimes I set her down on the floor, but she tends to have a little baby tantrum if I do that (throws herself down onto her belly and just wails - so sad).
Just for the record, I thought the biting hurt when she had no teeth; then she got her bottom teeth, and I thought that hurt. Now that she has her top teeth, too? Holy shit. The worst was when she clamped down as hard as she could, then slowly pulled her head back until she finally popped off. My entire boob hurt for days. I really, really hope you can get your DS's biting under control before he does something like that to you!
How do you lay a baby down on his stomach to sleep? Ds just pops his head right up.
I don't; I lay her on her back or her side, then let her roll to get comfy. Any time I try to put her down on her belly, it winds up being the most ungraceful move ever, usually ending with me dropping her a few inches to the mattress and DD being fully woken up. I am way too big of a klutz to figure out how to gently flip her to her belly without disturbing her.

And he just bit me so hard it's bleeding. I started crying and then he started crying. Not good.

Add yours!
Don't defrost the whole bag. Just let part of it defrost and put the rest of the frozen part back in the freezer. Or you can squeeze milk in the bowl like I did today because I didn't want to use up my stash. LOL

This never occurred to me. Awesome idea. As is hand expressing or whatever. But if I can’t squeeze out enough after she eats, I am so trying your first idea. Thanks!
jackie011 sometimes when she bites I just put her down and walk away. Other times when she starts to I gently push her face in more because she typically bites when she is pulling off, but wants back on.
jackie011 he's old enough that you can tell him "that hurts mommy" and then pull him off for 5 minutes. Worked with DS, and it was only a phase (though it seemed long at the time!)
Mine- when can I put a heavy blanket in the crib? My godmother made DS a thick crocheted blanket and I think it would stay on him better than a thin one. He's a very mobile 14 mo old so not sure it would even work, but he hates sleep sacks and it's getting cold

We do the same thing. Place her on her side and she will roll gently onto her tummy.

Solids question: when you move to three meals a day (of purees), do you schedule them right after a bottle? I've been just doing dinner and feed her the purees an hour after her bottle. Can I do this with breakfast and lunch too?

How can I transition my baby to napping in the crib? During the worst of the sleep I started just laying with him on our bed. He drifts off without me doing anything but I have to be there. When I put him in his crib he cries and fights. He is crawling now so I feel like I have to lie there and watch him in case he wakes up.
DS started rolling back to front one week ago but hasn't repeated it on his own since then. Concerning?
DS also has slowed down on his chatter. He's back to an occasional coo or AH! Concerning?
Naps are still a hot mess. He refuses them and freaks out if you put him down. At night he's fine. How can I right this ship?
L took a break when she started rolling, too. She really went crazy with it once she discovered she could sleep on her belly. But she was also apparantly the strange child that looooved tummy time.
She has also slowed down on chattering, so I don't know what to tell you on that. I wonder if he's focusing on rolling, so his babbling is going by the wayside for now?
I got nothin' on naps, other than L has to roll around for a little while before she conks out. I wouldn't say I'm doing CIO, but sometimes if I leave her alone for just a minute (literally, like as soon as she realizes I'm not standing there anymore), she'll calm down and go to sleep.
