Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to introduce myself and say "HI" from the ML board.
Bit of background- I went of BCP in April after my prescription ended, and I wanted to take a break to see if it resolved some issues. Well, I have felt a million times better and yesterday H and I decided that since we want to start TTC in the next 6 months and I really don't want to go on any BC so we are just going to let nature take it's course.
Two questions:
- is there any value to charting/temping if I am not actively trying?
- what (if anything) did you do differently once you were aware that you could get pregnant?

Hi and welcome!
I wish I had started charting and temping way before I did and way before we actively started TTC. Charting and temping gives you so much insight into your cycles, which is also useful when you're trying to avoid, or when you just want to know what your body is doing. If you're taking it casually and are not actively trying and not having sex on specific days and you're not getting pregnant, you'll know whether or not there is something to wonder or worry about. When you are starting to get serious about actively trying, it won't take you months to figure out what your cycle is really like.
The only thing I do different now that I'm aware that I could get pregnant, is peeing on sticks at the end of my cycle. I'm firmly in the drink and do whatever until it's pink category. Oh, and I take prenatal vitamins, but not religiously. I have them lying around and take them some mornings, but don't fret it when I forget.

Most people that don't start charting/temping regret not starting. Usually this happens if they don't get pregnant after a few months. Everyone thinks (hopes) that they will get pregnant right away.
I also wanted to say that if you are not on BCP and you are letting nature take its course you are actively trying to get pregnant.
Until you get your + that you are indeed pregnant then you have to change how you do things. Most people do not change anything up until that point. If you go over to the bump you may get different advice on this but to each his own.

Yep, this is me. We've been trying since April and I'm finally going to start charting next cycle. I've been super aware of other ovulation symptoms and tracking those through FF (read TCOYF if you haven't already. I felt like a sucker doing it, but I really did learn a ton) and also using a fertility monitor, but no luck so far. I wish I had started charting from the beginning.
You should start taking prenatal vitamins right now if you could get pregnant any day. Otherwise, live life until you get two lines! I know that I end up drinking more while TTC because I think soon I may not be able to. Good luck!
