DH's uncle just called to say he got divorced after 30 years of marriage. It's already done. DH and I called it at Passover. The tension between them was palpable. Their youngest daughter started college this fall and we guessed they were just waiting until she left home. I asked what they were going to do as empty-nesters and he said joked "probably have a mid-life crisis and get divorced." Guess it wasn't a joke after all.
asdfjkl - How scary. I'm glad your parents are okay. I'm sorry they are going to have to deal with all that now because of someone texting while driving.

Oh my goodness, it is so loud outside. The one day I try to study. I guess the apt people are doing landscaping. I'm not sure what, in particular they're doing right now, but it sounds like they're going to come throug my door at any second.
This means, I should go study at the bookstore and get a nice sweet treat, right? Right?
Some texting 20-something ran a red light at the intersection my parents live on, and spun the car she broadsided into BOTH of my parents' cars which were parked on the street in front of their house, totaling both of them.
My parents are.completely overwhelmed. My mom had just gotten home from.work when it happened and is still reeling from the fact that she could have missed the whole thing if she'd been running about three minutes late or could have been killed if she'd been about three minutes earlier. And then there's the part where my middle aged parents are going to have to but two new cars and have likely two car payments instead of one... Oh, and it looks like the girl is going to try to claim she didn't run the red even though the car behind her that was not involved in the accident has stated that the light was and had been red for some time. It wasn't even "orange." Fuck people.
OMG how scary. I'm glad they're all right but still, that's awful.
My former bossed passed away Sunday. Heart attack. Totally unexpected. He left here 3 years ago but we kept in touch a bit about business stuff. I always thought he was a great manager and had a lot of respect for him. He was only 55.

Did the girl get cited at least??
I would be furious. Can asdfjkl parents sue her in Civil court?
I want to buy these shoes or something very like them:
I keep showing pictures of women wearing similar shoes to MH and asking him what he thinks - and every time he wrinkles his nose. Why do I keep asking him?? I should just get the damn things. But I don't want to end up in jail after I buy them and he refers to them as my old lady shoes for the 292845798467th time.

a friend gave me the Disappearing TARDIS mug for my birthday on Saturday, and I'm still thrilled to put hot coffee (and tea!) into it and watch the TARDIS fade from one side and reappear on the other. Every single hot beverage I've had since Saturday night has been in my fancypants new mug... and I intend to keep using it all.the.time.

So I should probably keep my initial reaction to myself?

+1, and my shoe taste is usually more towards Vespasia

I like them.
That is probably not a good sign.
Yeah, these are not good.
Know who has a cute heeled oxford? Fergie. Hang on.
ETA:
These are a few years old but how cute are they? And HELLA comfy! I really like her shoes, actually. It doesn't hurt they go up to size 11.
Anyway, I'd look for something more along those lines.
