My H has a classic Harley and it has to warm up for 5-10 minutes before he can ride it. He only probably revs it 4-5 times though within that time frame. Not constantly the entire time. I don't know if it's necessary or not but when I yelled at him once for it saying it was obnoxious he started explaining something about carbon and then I tuned him out.
Yeah, my H had a Harley and would have to warm it up before taking off on a ride. This means revving it a couple times. There should be no more than 2 revs though. This guy sounds like a douchenozzle.

He's a douche. That's why.
FTR, DH has a Harley and only revs it once or twice if it's cold outside when he's warming the bike up, even if he rides it every day. Anyone who revs their bike over and over and then takes off like a bat out of hell is doing it so people notice.
Any respectable motorcyclist could start up his bike properly without waking someone in the neighboring house. Yes it needs to be revved a little and it needs to warm up before he drives, but what your describing is just him getting his jollies off listening to his bike be loud.
My dad and brother both ride. They need to warm up so they start them about 10 minutes before they leave and rev 1-2 times to get things going. Doing it repeatedly is not necessary.

This would be our newish neighbor. Usually after 11 p.m. most nights. Thanks, asshole. My three year old just woke up since your driveway is about ten feet away from her window.
OMG you just touched on a total pet peeve of mine. I've lived near and known way too many revvers of cars and motorcycles. I loathe the sound. Do guys think women like this? Are there some women that like this?

10 minutes is too long even They are very loud
Depending on the bike and the weather, 10 minutes may be necessary to properly warm it up or the bike wont run well.
My bike (not a Harley) is old and "cold blooded" and barely even starts if the temp dips below 60 degrees, and has to warm up- with several revs- for at least 10 minutes or it will die down the block.

Yeah, DH's is garaged, so I can see that it may take longer for others.
