Is this week over? I just want it to be Sunday, and have my colleague on her flight out.
Actually, I want it to be about November 15th, when all the travel for my department (with the exception of 2 3 day trips to Texas in December, but that's EASY compared to my boss's African trip at the end of this month/beginning of next month) will be DONE for 2014.
Oh man, J is sick. He has a fever that I can keep under control with alternating Ibuprofen and acetaminophen but I had to call off work. I have sucked so much nasty snot out of his nose. He definitely hates it a lot more than he did the last time I had to do this at 7 weeks. He's acting mostly normal except when he tired. I'm sure it's just a cold but I feel bad for the little guy.
The nice part about not going to work today is that I have 5 days off in a row now! I had fri, sat, sun and mon off by some miracle of scheduling so yay, mini vacation!
I met a family last night that totally reminded me of the @notquiteblushing family. I went to Phish in Santa Barbara and this really nice couple with a 5 year old and a 3 year old were sitting in front of me. They were handing out postcards for Jam Cruise and said the husband has been on every single boat that's sailed, and the kids have been every year since they were conceived. All four of them danced down when the show started and they looked like they had so much fun together, and I couldn't help thinking that's going to be you guys in a few years.
I still refuse to bring my kids to concerts though. lol.
Oh that's so cute! And there were so few kids on Jam Cruise that I may even know who that was!
I am hoping next Spring we can do one of the really family friendly festivals maybe down in Florida. #2 will only be like 2 weeks old at next year's probable Phish run so I'll send DH one day alone and one day with DS1 but I'll sit it out most likely. Hope you had fun last night. Still haven't checked out the set list.
We were running late this morning and ds was being a typical two year old, refusing to get dressed etc. so I asked him if he would please cooperate and he said yes and then did! Omg. I asked two more times when he was getting sidetracked and both times he said yeah mama and then did what I asked.
I totally forgot, but DH reminded me our anniversary is Saturday. Whoops! We had already discussed no cards/gifts, but I can't believe I completely blanked this week.

It was a burner! I really enjoyed the Drowned>Theme in the second set if you have a chance to check it out. Even the idiots on PT are saying generally favorable things about the show so you know it was good.
You might know this family--they said theirs are often the only kids on the boat. The dad had pretty distinctive hair--very long dreads. It was my first time seeing a show solo and I really enjoyed talking with them.
They are from Western WA and live in a Portland and they have NO west coast shows. WTF?!?!?
I bet they'll add a couple. I feel like bands always pull this with their hometowns. Wilco does this like, every single tour. They just added 6 Chicago dates, lol.
I always WANT to like S-L. But I just don't. Well, I didn't when they were in their heyday. Which was when I felt like I had a tiny sliver of musical taste cred. Maybe I should relisten now with the maturity of my years. But my brain's probably too numbed from years of top 40. Sad panda.
Miles busted out of his swaddle 3 times last night, so I guess it's time to try something else. I have Merlin's Magic Baby suit, but I have my doubts that it's "magic."
It is magical! Well I mean he still woke up in the MOTN but not from startling. How old? Did you try the Miracle Blanket?
He's 3 months and I use a Miracle blanket at night and bind him up as tight as I can, but the tiny little worm still gets out most nights. The Merlin suit is still a little too big for him (he can ball his legs up in it), but I think the time has come.

I sold my Medela Lactina pump yesterday. While I've mentioned before how I was bummed about DH's vasectomy, I thought I had mostly gotten over it. I was strangely sad over selling my pump. I mean, it's not even some sentimental item. It's a pump, for crying out loud.
DH has been taken off of "Teaching Animal Sounds" duty.
This is after repeated 'lessons' that the rabbit says "ribbit" and that the turtle makes clicking noises.
Seriously - wtf DH.
What does a rabbit say?? Oh and let's add giraffe and hippo in there.
We have meat rabbits, I taught DS that rabbits say "hop hop" LOL. Did you know a giraffe says NOTHING! They have no vocal cords! They make no sound at all. I taught DS that hippos say "blub blub" since they like to swim underwater.
Ugh, I am so sleepy today. At first I was really confused, since I got about enough sleep last night. Then I remembered that I was like this for a bunch of my first pregnancy too - I just need a power nap occasionally (or most afternoons). Last time I even brought a camping pad and pillow into work and would take quick naps in empty rooms. I'm super glad that I work from home now, because I can nap on my own couch or bed.
