I know I don't "go" here, but maybe I'll start visiting more, I used to lurk when GBCN first started. (I'm over on DWP w/ the other most recent GBCBers)
Anyway, we have a 5 year old crate & barrel couch that we love but badly needs new slip covers. Only the seat cushions are bad, but I figure we can't just replace those w/o the whole thing looking off (fading). Problem - crate & barrel no longer has the couch and says the company they got it from (Lee, pretty sure) no longer carries it or the covers. I'm fairly certain it's Lee's 3917-03 Sofa. It was called Cayman when it was at C & B.
Any thoughts on how to track down a cover? I have the name of an upholstery person to call to make one, but I feel like that will be a fortune & I might as well just buy a new couch.
Have you contacted Lee to find out if it is the same sofa?
We have a Lee sofa, and there is no way that it would cost as much to reupholster or slipcover as it would to buy new. Plus, if it was made by Lee, it would be a good quality frame, and would be worth it to reupholster.
I have not, I only just figured it out tonight. I plan on doing it tomorrow - but c & b already told me it was discontinued from their supplier.
Good to know that it's probably worth recovering. It's been frustrating even getting this far in the process - we have materials/reciepts from every freaking thing in this house, except that couch. So of course, C & B has records of every single purchase we've made, except this couch. It took several days of them searching just to find the right name only to find out it was gone.
Bed Bath and Beyond has a lot of generic couch covers, but it won't look super fitted. My parents got their couch reupholstered a while back and it turned out really nicely. If you want a major change but want it to look like it was designed that way, that might be the best option.
