I do not check fever unless he wakes up. I am not sure he has ever gone down with a fever that high though. Did Motrin not bring it down. I would dress him lightly then go in in an hour to feel forehead. Ds probably would not wake up If i was quiet

Poor guy. I asked the pediatrician about waking, and she said not to wake him just to take his temperature or give Motrin or Tylenol. She said they will wake up themselves if they feel bad enough, so to do temp and meds then. Apparently around 102 is when they get a headache and generally feel crappy so that is supposed to wake them. But my kid has woken with a 104.8 fever though... so he doesn't know how to 'act' sick.

Also, when Tylenol didn't bring down a high fever like that, I was told to go ahead and do the Motrin too an hour later. I was always able to get it down around 102 before bed. So not sure what I would do in your case. I hope the fever breaks soon!
I hate that too. I don't think I would wake him to take a temp, he definitely needs the sleep.
Having said that, I have used the forehead scanner thermometer, can't remember the name. It was such a light touch it didn't wake her. I thought you mentioned before that you had that one..maybe it will work.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We've had high fevers this week, too. It sucks when they're so sick!
I just checked with my hand on their foreheads a few times. Once DS1 was burning up! I did try to slip the thermometer in his mouth, but he woke up. His fever was 104.3! I stripped him down, gave him Tylenol (not time for Motrin yet), gave him a cool cloth, and let him go back to sleep. The rest helps their body fight the illness. It really sucks, though!
Hope he's feeling better soon! Remember it takes 24-48 hours sometimes for antibiotics to start working.
ETA: I think his fever was especially high because he was having chills before nap, so he put a hoodie on (hood up!) and had himself covered in two blankets!
