Spotting after cervical check?

I had my first cervical check today at 36w5d, and I just went to the bathroom and noticed some brownish spotting on my underwear. I had some light cramps earlier, but nothing major and they've since stopped. Is that normal or should I be worried?

I don't know if it matters, but she said the baby was really low and I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced.

Not to worry. It's very normal to spot after an exam.

I always got crampy and spotted after a cervical check.

Yeah, after checking me, my dr told me she doesn't expect me to make it to my due date. I'm not putting too much stock in it though, I know cervical checks don't always mean that much. I could stay this way the next 3 weeks. It is nice to know there has been progress though.

Yup, normal. I don't think cervical checks mean much. I was 6cm 80% effaced for the last MONTH of my pregnancy thanks to two bouts of pre-term labor. He stayed put until the day before my due date.
