Last night I was bored so I rearranged a couple kitchen cabinets. When DH got home he was laughing at me. The kitchens been that way since we moved in here 2 1/2 years ago.
Do you rearrange your kitchens regularly? How do you organize it?
The 4 years we were in our house, I only rearranged the kitchen once. And it was only a couple of cabinets, not the whole thing. Most kitchen stuff is easy for me to keep organized, like dishes, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, towels, pot holders... But certain things are always a disaster, like Tupperware. I hate organizing kitchens though, which is probably why I have 6 packed boxes of kitchen stuff that have been sitting for the last week in the apartment. I have no motivation to unpack them!

I think I tried to once and gave up at our old place. At least here there are more cabinets! We just kinda picked the cabinets that made the most sense for everything. The pots and pans are close to the stove, along with the cooking utensils and spices. The plates/bowls are right above the dishwasher. Food items are all in the pantry (aka large cupboard, not an actual walk in pantry). We have a couple "random" cabinets that have items that don't go anywhere else, like Ziploc bags, our unopened sushi making kit, our Magic Bullet, things like that. Eventually we will try to condense the 2 "random" cabinets since we will need room for bottles and stuff. That will be fun.. haha. I want to hire a professional organizer to come in and organize our whole place because I'm so terrible at it!
We haven't reorganized at all, except within the cabinets they already belong in. Dishes are right above dishwasher, cups above sink. Pots and pans right next to stove.
I really need to clean out and organize the tupperware cabinet. It's a mess right now and I won't have time to clear it until at least next weekend at the earliest.
estrellita- I had the baking stuff near the oven. Which is great in theory but the KA mixer is at the other end of the kitchen so I have to move it all over there then bring it all back. So last night I moved the stuff we rarely use over to the cabinet by the oven and the baking stuff by the KA mixer.

awick14 That's a good point. We have other "baking" materials in drawers near the mixer (rolling pin that has yet to be used, lol, spatulas, whisks, etc) but not the pans. I think we use the pans more for other foods though. I think if I used the mixer more (I should!) I could definitely see how that would make more sense! Or I could move the mixer, I could rearrange the counter...
I actually organized the pantry last week, and now it's so easy to find any food I want in there. We lived in this house for 3.5 years and I think I rearranged the cabinets once. Some of them are really organized, like the ones I go into every day, and some are just filled with things tossed in there every which way.
I have never reorganized the kitchen. (if that means moving things around). I am very much a creature of habit and when my H unloads the dishwasher and puts the glasses on the wrong shelf, I redo them. I have no idea why I'm so particular since I'm a cluttered mess in all other ways!
Ugh, yes, so true! I saw a suggestion on Pinterest I think to use a drying rack as a lid holder and that has helped the chaos a bit. They aren't organized at all, just thrown in there, but at least the lids are separate from the containers and that makes them easier to find!
I have organized my kitchen only one other time from moving in! I don't think I'll take it on again until we move.. It's such a huge project. All my stuff is categorized as well like you ladies!
I rearranged our kitchen once. DH went through and rearranged it not long ago. I was like "What are you doing?!?!?!". He doesn't cook and I couldn't find anything!
I'm already planning on how I want to arrange the new kitchen.
Funny you posted this. I JUST reorganized 2 kitchen cabinets Saturday night. The pans were in the wrong place and at risk for falling and hurting the counter. We moved them the lowest I could put them and put something else in their place.

I will reorganize every year or so. We moved into our rental house almost a year ago and have only moved a few things around. But it is pretty well laid out well.
