I was going to ask you about redemption in Kiawah, but I didn't want you to smack me when we see each other. Get out of here with this retiring nonsense. Maybe a break to have a baby, though. I'm recruiting all of you people for that!
H&F pregnancy pact, huh? You'll be breaking out the secret handshakes/contracts at Kiawah
It's the only way I'm taking the leap. DH and I talked about it last night, and then I got immediately nauseous and sweaty, but that's totally normal, right? LOL

that's how i feel when we talk about it - def completely normal.
nichelobe - How are you doing now? I remember feeling agonized at how rough your first marathon ended up being, but you still kept going and finished it. Sometimes that counts more than anything else. Do you have any winter/spring race plans yet? I hope you're recovering well.
On that note, you too spunkypenguin! I hope you've recovered well.

Thanks for the kind words - I really appreciate it!! I'm doing really well! The dr says my hip seized up and threw my bands out of whack. It was a really crappy time for it to happen, but there's no lasting damage and I just need to do some strengthening. I have a 15k lined up for 11/16 and I want to work on getting faster over the winter.

I have nothing but hairpats and admiration to offer. I'm not an experienced marathoner, but if running has taught me anything, it's that anything can happen out there. You'll make the right choice about if and where to run your next race. I'll echo the sentiment to give your body and mind a couple/few days to rest before making any decisions. Especially with work bs in the mix. That shit is mentally exhausting. Hang in there. ( hairpat) ( chocolate) ( wine)

That's how I get when we talk about #2 (kids-not poop). It's normal! I was that way with my darling little son too!
I don't have enough experience to give any advice, but I want to offer head pats. It's so tough to gut through training and not hit your goals. I do like the idea of giving it a few more days before deciding on Richmond or Philly.

i am no marathoner but I know you well enough to know how much of your heart and soul and life you put into this and i think your feelings are normal. do whatever you feel is right. not running another one is a perfectly acceptable option, as is running one of them.
FWIW...i trained for my first half and it was that nasty DC RNR in March and it was like 80 damn degrees. granted, i didn't have the same set of pacing or experience you did but i put a lot of effort into it and there was nothing i could do to change it. it blows and you have every right to be little pissed off.
