I am just wanting opinions on what you would feel is adequate compensation for my situation. I sat on an airplane seat that had been peed on by the previous occupant. I was soaked, both my pants and undergarments were wet. The cabin crew switched the seat cushion and seat belt but as I had no other clothes I was forced to sit in wet clothes stuffed with paper towels for 7 hours.
American have offered me 3000 miles (woooooo), I think I deserve something more.
What do you think?
Small update: Thanks again for the responses. I have posted on flyer talk to see what they thought but I have had more helpful information from here.
I called AA and was unable to speak to the customer relations department. Apparently they only accept email. The reservations lady I spoke to was very nice and understanding and advised to send another email explaining what I had said to her.
I plan to ask for a full refund ($972) and money to replace my clothes and DS's pillow which I put on the chair before I sat down.
I have since googled for a customer relations phone number and found all sorts of contact info for them. I tried calling but it was too early ( I am in Europe).
I will also mention to them that I was traveling with my DS . DS was premature and under medical advice isolated him for until he was 10.5 months old to prevent him for getting sick. Until May he had never left the house apart from dr visits and go for a run out in the car. We are obviously super careful still. We wiped our armrests and tray tables down on the plane to prevent any infection so I was obviously concerned about DS being around the pee. I will tell AA this as it may help my case.
New update:-
So I have registered with twitter as I want to keep it off Facebook. I am currently mulling over my tweet to AA. Thinking of something along these lines-
I experienced an awful situation on my recent transatlantic AA flight. The previous passenger had urinated on my seat and I only found out after I sat in it. Over 10 hours with someone else's bodily fluids on my clothes. Was offered only 3k miles in compensation. What a joke!!
I will go into more detail/compensation demands when they get in touch.
Thanks again for the support!
Angry update: They keep deleting my Facebook post. I have posted it 3 times. first time I just thought I was going insane. 2nd and 3rd time I saw it had posted and then suddenly it was not there. Fuckers!!
UPDATE: I posted it again on Facebook, they deleted it again but I took a screenshot and posted that and it is still there as I type!
Holy fuck. You deserve a whole lot more. Raise hell. On social media, if normal efforts don't work. This is something that should be escalated to, like, the CEO if you don't get a LOT of compensation.

I am so sorry that happened to you! I would be really pissed. And, no, 3000 miles is not enough. You had to sit there is someone else's urine. For hours. No.
I'd ask for a refund or more miles. I'd want a full refund or 25,000 miles (usually enough to cover a flight). Ditto PPs on using social media, etc... if they push back.
Holy shit. How did you know it was urine? Did it smell? Did they tell you what happened - was it a baby or something??
Gross warning......I know it was pee as I felt my pants were wet and put my hand on it and then sniffed it. I am hoping it was a kid that peed, it makes me feel better if it was a kid.
This sort of makes me want to die. I am so sorry that happened to you. Thank you for telling us, though, so I will be sure to pack an extra set of clothing in my carry on from now on.
I think they should give you a refund and/or free flight. On one hand, it would have been hard for the flight crew to catch this unless they actually touch every seat when cleaning, it is probably hard to tell if a seat is wet. So I'm not sure the airline is at fault, per se, but it's their job to make sure you are happy and (at least reasonably) comfortable while using their services, so I think they still should be interested in giving you something to make you feel better. With as much as they charge for tickets you'd think they could throw you a bone. Hell, I want to buy you a free plane ticket for having to suffer.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I am going offline now but will be back later. I am so angry about their response, particularly the line addressing the poor cleaning.. "Again, I'm sorry that the enjoyment of your flight was diminished as a result".
Way way way more than 3000 miles. That's a complete joke.
I would want a full refund. I'd probably not want to ever fly them again, so any credits toward future flights would be less appealing. (I wouldn't tell them that while arguing for the refund, though.)
Ohhh my God, that is so gross. I'm sorry this happened to you. I would definitely want a full refund and a shit ton of miles. Definitely take it public if necessary.

Dude, total refund on your ticket at a minimum. That's repulsive, and my lunch date yesterday vomited on the sidewalk next to our table, and I still enjoyed my meal. So I am no pansy. Ick.

You have got to be fucking kidding me with that.
RIGHT?
I understand how this could happen because like a pp said, the cleaning creway not touch every single seat. But still. That response is so inadequate as to be insulting.
Related: FUCK the person who peed on it and said nothing. I get that it's embarrassing but that's such a dick move.

That line is barely acceptable for our broken inflight entertainment system on a transatlantic flight. Highly unacceptable for something that resulted in you sitting in someone's body fluids, for 7 hours.

What airline? This is absolutely absurd, and they should be mortified. Blast them on social media, and when you phone them, don't talk to a rep, ask for a manager right away. Also spam them with emails. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
OMG. I'm really not certain what to say. That is awful -- and 3k miles is NOTHING. I'm sorry. I'd either tweet or FB American Airlines and describe the entire story publically, AND I'd write a letter to the CEO.
DISGUSTING. I can't believe that the FA didn't have some sort of blanket/toga, medical garb, etc., that could have been used.
That seems like a land the plane/don't take off and find your damn luggage kind of scenario, especially given the "bodily fluids" aspect of this. I would have been absolutely OUT OF MY MIND.
Note: I would have offered you WHATEVER was in my suitcase that would have worked for you. Did the FA make any sort of announcement - like, hey - can anyone help this girl out?
We had an AA flight get cancelled after a total shitshow at the St. Thomas airport, and my H called and complained about how poorly the situation was handled. Not in a mean way, but as an FYI, some pretty unacceptable things happened. We were reimbursed our hotel night, dinner, cabs, and given two $450 vouchers for future tickets. Granted, he's got status so that helped, but YOU. SAT IN. PEE.
