It's the opposite of all this overwhelmed/what is defeating you talk.
Parenting is hard, yo! Use this thread to congratulate yourself for something you did that made you feel like you were ON TOP OF THE WORLD, if only for a few seconds.
Nighttime was pretty good tonight. Hiding most of the toys plus waiting until V was a little more tired seemed to make bedtime stories a little easier. Afterwards msniq & I carved pumpkins. It's the one bit of Halloween we've managed to DIY so far. Afterwards msniq served slices of mom's crumble cake and ice cream.
My toddler-terrorist made the director of admissions at a preschool laugh at his interview because he said "oy vey" after accidentally knocking over the whateverthefuckitwas block thing he was building.
This story is proof that my parenting strategy is the awesomest.
C did something today to which I said, " Good job!" She responded by walking over to me and saying, "fist bump" while extending her balled up hand. #proudmommy
DD turned one this week. After she went to bed on her birthday, we sat around congratulating ourselves on making it through a whole year of being parents. We survived.

DH and I high-fived after putting him to bed on his first birthday. And then clinked beer bottles.
I've made it 32 days of solo parenting so far and we're both still alive, the house is still standing and I've only cooked twice in those 32 days. Freezer meals, takeout and 2 meals from friends FTW.
I have *the* nicest kids. I'm not just saying that. When they are at home they can be total jerks, but when we are out they are extremely well behaved and polite and happy. They are 3.5 years and 16 months.
Their general awesomeness is commented on frequently.
I feel like I HAVE to be doing something right if they act like this, right?

Yes! I feel the same way about DS most of the time-he's quite the charmer with his manners and behavior when in public, but at home his behavior has been making me want to count the minutes until bedtime lately. We have to be doing something right if they can be so good in public.
M's classroom is really hot and his costume is fleece. Instead of going nuts and making a new tail and sewing it to a tee-shirt, I got a pair of his sister's red leggings and the Superman smock from the dress-up box. He is thrilled and I am relaxed. This is a win.
DD4 ate that Kale, Broccoli, Brussel sprout salad mix you get at Costco last night. I was truly stunned, though I fed it to her like a damn baby bird.
I ran my first Day of Couch to 5k yesterday & it was easy. I'm confused by this because I tried a few months ago and could only do about 8minutes. How did I magically get in better shape by sitting on my ass just getting older? Only thing I can think of is I'm taking my thyroid meds more regularly now & I'm sleeping better. That must make a big difference because it wasn't even comparable experiences.
My kid does so well at restaurants. She just sits in her high chair and picks up her food and babbles happily to herself. Yesterday we went out to lunch with a friend and it was really nice to have an adult conversation for 45 min without needing to constantly tend to her. She is 100% willing/able to feed herself as long as I keep putting chunks of food in front of her. It's awesome.
DS is BEYOND thrilled to play at Grammy's house today while DH and u go to my anatomy scan. I'm so glad I have great parents who love our family, and that DS loves being with them. I love planning play dates with grammy!
It's October and I got DS1 to write his Santa letter this week so he was committed to a gift. As a result I managed to complete all my Christmas gift shopping this week, and all his birthday present shopping (his birthday is 20 Dec). I also ordered our Christmas at Longleat tickets. I feel very organised even though I have a 6 week old and very little sleep.
I'm pretty happy that I've been able to handle my crazy commute plus drops off and pick ups. The other day I was really able to catch up on some work, so I feel pretty damn productive.
I got everyone, including myself, fed and to bed last night by 9:15pm. Have I mentioned that DD is a night owl and DH is never home in the evenings and that I am now on a special diet that requires a serious time investment to cook every evening?
I got a 14% raise to go along with my tenure and promotion. That is the highest they can give without going to the Board of Trustees to ask for an exception. I may have gotten teary eyed during lunch with my boss.
- I have run 15.3 miles in October, vs. 6 in September. - I did not lose it this morning and act like a total bitch to everyone when both children were yelling and crying at me. - A colleague is retiring and it appears that I have convinced my boss that I would be great to take over for the incumbent.

Wow, awesome! My H is up for P&T this year ... and we know he's getting nothing like that. Go you!
Since we got home from swimming at 11, I've put together a book case that included approximately 25 screws without pilot hole, while both girls were awake, gotten both girls asleep (DD2 for only the second time ever is not napping in the same room as me), organized the playroom and threw out a ton of things, gotten DD2 back to sleep and have had time to play on the internet.

Good luck to your H. It was a grueling process, but I was well prepared by my Chair and I am REALLY happy to have it official as of the start of the fiscal year.
It is also super surreal to be "senior" faculty in our department. I just turned 37! I don't feel senior anything.

My DD1s preschool teacher always tell us DD1 is the most stylish little girl. Ha! (And it's not expensive stuff, all carters and target.) I pride myself on being cheap but stylish, so WIN!

I am going through the interview/testing process for a different job, I kind of want the job, but it is not in the best area. I really want to get the position just to get a raise where I'm at
Anyhow, I got the results of the process yesterday via email, out of 100 points total in the written exam, oral exam, interview and screening I got 91 and am ranked #1. I can't wait for the offer!
I just made the difficult decision to quit one of my jobs. I was working per diem as a nurse on a surgical floor and just meeting my monthly requirement since Daphne was born. It was not enough to stay current and feel like I was doing a good job there. I feel so relieved to have decided and done it.
