How much do u pay to tailor your skirts? I bought 4 skirts from LOFT this past wk (@ 50% off!), but they didn't carry my size in the store and they're out of stock online. I bought them closest to my size, but, I think I'll probably have to get them taken in. They're a little too loose and bunch up way too much in the front after a couple of hrs of wear.
They all have a layer of lining, and I know that's extra. But, my usual tailor quoted me starting at $25/skirt! Which is how much I paid for each skirt to begin with. LOL. Great deal that was! :-P
So, am I being taken for a fool @ $25/skirt for tailoring?
If just taking in the sides and there's not a lot of extra detail like specific top stitched areas, or something that requires a lot of work, I think $15 is reasonable for a lined skirt.
Ahh! That is good to know, Ditzy. Damn mall tailoring!
I think she's come down a lot because I remember taking a $10 dress I found at Target and she charged $16 per cut she had to make. So she had to take in both sides and the length and it came out to almost $48 for a dress that wouldn't have even cost that much at regular price.
ETA: How long is the mall tailor taking to tailor the skirts? If it's a day, then maybe I could see it being worth it. My tailor takes at least 5 days. I took a pair of skinnies to another tailor and they took 2 weeks to get my pants done and they were only a buck or two cheaper than my regular lady.
