I used to post here a while ago and have since had a baby. She's almost 6 mo now and I've been slowly getting back in the game. I'm registered for my second marathon in Spring of 2015 and am hoping to BQ again and make it to Boston this time. It's hard to come back after pregnancy but I'm starting to feel really optimistic and excited. I hope I can join you girls over here...I love reading about all your races. It's so encouraging!
Welcome! We have many ladies here who are either 1) Going for BQs, 2) Going for BQs AGAIN to actually make it to Boston this time or 3) Awesome moms who are making fantastic post-baby comebacks. You're in good company!
Welcome back!! Any advice for someone two weeks out from their race trying to BQ?
Good luck! I found sticking with a pace group to be really helpful. My pace group chatted the whole time and I just listened and it took my mind off running and I didn't have to worry about keeping on track with time. That is, until mile 23 when they left me in the dust....
Thanks! I'm registered for a small, local one in its inaugural year, the Pacific Northwest Marathon. It's in early May. I hope it is a good one!
I BQd at a very small, inaugural race in Jan. (I was 1 of 650 running the full.) It was really nice! Easy, low-key, low stress. A big change coming off of my previous fall full (Chicago.) I think small races make great BQ courses. (Says the girl that it going for another, this weenend, at a Rock n Roll event! lol ) I hope your experience is as great as mine was.

Thanks! My race is so small though I'm pretty sure we don't have pacers. If I get my goal or close to it, I have a good chance of placing in the top 3 women. LOL.

Yes I like the idea of low key and close to home. A bunch of people from my running club are registered including a group of 10 or so friends who I usually train with. I'm glad for the camaraderie. Good luck this weekend! That's exciting!
Yay; welcome back! Congrats on your daughter, and happy marathon training. It sounds like a nice race you've picked out. Big marathons totally have their place, but small & local races can be so friendly. Plus they are great for going after an aggressive time goal.

Welcome!
I am a newbie runner in the PNW. Any tips on staying warm and dry?
Hmmm. I don't really own much specialized gear. I dress in layers and wear a hat when it's raining hard, but I rarely wear a jacket in the rain because I get too hot. I just plan to get wet all winter long.
